A friend of mine from church is a florist and I was in her shop one day and spotted a vase full of flowers that were past their prime that she had culled from her stock. I asked her what she does with them, and she replied that she throws them out. If you know me at all, you know I don’t like to throw things out – especially something as pretty as dried flowers. She let me take them said she would save future spent blossoms for me.

Flowers are one of the few things that look just as pretty dead as they do alive, and I love having them in vases or just hanging them in simple bunches around my home, but I wanted to find another way to display this pretty bunch of assorted colors.

I still have a few antique ceiling tiles left, so I got out an old Ball Lightning jar and drilled a few closely-spaced holes into the bottom corner of the ceiling tile, then wrapped wire around the neck of the jar several times, and threaded it through the front of the tile and twisted the wire tightly closed in the back. I drilled another hole in the top corner, so it can be hung on the wall from a nail.

Since I don’t need any water in the jar for the flowers, I just dropped some of the dried petals into the jar and wrapped a vintage lace hanky around the stems. You could also paint the outside of your canning jar, then the stems wouldn’t show at all.
I have a bunch of dried weeds that I collected several years ago, and they look just as pretty as a neutral display as the real dried flowers do.
I look forward to getting more dried flowers from my friend, as I’d love to have baskets full of them in my home.
I do still have just a few ceiling tiles available. I’m sold out of the wreath style I used for this project, but I do still have a few of the tiles I used on the front of my kitchen cabinets. They are available here.
Blessings,

The ceiling tiles add so much to any area and I had not thought of dried flowers. So thank you! What do you use to keep your dried flowers/weeds from shedding?
Wonderful idea, I love it!
