Repurposed Bed Frame Coat Rack, “It is Well” Wall Cubbies & New Items

I’m a sucker for spindles, so when I saw this bed foot board come up for bid at the auction, my bidding finger went up…over and over again.  Someone else wanted it as much as I did, but I kept bidding, far beyond what I normally would.

I go to auctions to buy things for my shop, but I buy things I like, so in the event they don’t sell, I’m have something I would enjoy having in my home, and I enjoy spindles!

It still had the bolts that would have connected it to the side rails, and I love them, so my husband cut the back of the bolts off, so the front parts could remain in place.

If your a sucker for spindles too, it’s available in my shop here.

My two older sons are coming home for a weekend visit, and the room they stay in has been FILLED with unfinished “stuff” all winter.  I’ve been trying to finish up as many projects as I can, and move those things out to my storage room.  This little wall cubbie shelf was one of the things I completed.  It was stuck in the 70’s when I got it at a thrift store.
I sanded the butterfly image off, removed the back panel, then repainted shelf.  I wanted to reuse the back panel, so I sanded the cork off as well, then turned it around so the lines on the panel would show in the front openings.

I used my “It is Well with my Soul” photograph, and transferred it to the wood, as shown here.  Even though doing transfers is a little messy, I really enjoy the process am thrilled each time I wipe the paper off, and see the images start to show through.  Lightly sanding and waxing it afterward,  just gives it the perfect aged finish.

.

I’ve listed it in my shop here.  This is something I can actually think of a place for in my home, so I’m okay with keeping it if it doesn’t sell.

I had one small piece of old, red barn wood left, so I turned it into another silverware votive holder.  I love the incredible aging this wood has.  It’s available here.

I completed another barn wood wall bin, as well.
Available here.

I have 3 antique cameras, and decided since I’m not a full-blown collector, I would just keep one as a photo prop, and sell the other two, so I listed this Falcon camera here.

I have lots of books I use as photo props, so I decided to sell one set I’ve used in a lot of photos in the past.  This is a school set, with 3 antique school books and one religious book.  It’s listed here.

I also listed this wonderful antique meat chopper.

Not only is it really different from other choppers I’ve found, but it has the coolest “pointing hand graphics on the side of it.  It’s listed here.
I listed a few antique cake pans several weeks ago, but never showed them to you.  Both of them have some of the prettiest patina I’ve found on old pans.  This one is listed here.

I also listed an amber apothecary bottle here, but if it doesn’t sell, it will make a great photo prop.

  3. I LOVE the wall cubby, Angie! Love, love, love!

  4. Hi Angie, I love what you did with the wall cubby – great idea to add a mirror. Great way to repurpose a headboard too – lov’n it. Oh how I love an auction too. We purchased hardwood flooring for the entire main floor of our house at an auction for a fraction of the price. I get so caught up in the energy of the room that I too have put up my bidding finger a few times when I knew I was bidding more than I normally would.

  5. I’m in love with the wall cubby! The rack too, but really the cubby. The transformation is incredible.
Have a great weekend with your boys.

  6. Angie do you mind sharing where you get your hooks? You do so many great things with them. I’m in Canada and find big hooks SO expensive, I’m wondering if you have a cheaper source. Thanks.

  7. So many wonderful projects to look at! You are very creative. My favorite is the soft and timeworn shelf with the transfer…SO PRETTY!
