When I drove to Springfield, MO last week with my oldest son, one of the antique stores we visited along the way was a huge building filled with different vendor booths. At one of the booths, I found quite a few enamelware pieces, but my favorite of them was a vintage enamelware colander that said, “made in Poland” on the bottom. It had a few little chips in the enamelware, which I love, and I knew right away that it would make a perfect hanging light.
This light is available in my shop HERE.
My husband does all of the lighting projects for me – I just decide which pieces I want to have turned into lights, and make sure he has the supplies he needs to do it. I get vintage style twisted cloth covered electric cord and vintage style plugs for him to use from Vintage Wire and Supply (one of my sponsors). Their prices are very reasonable, and their service is outstanding. I always receive my items within a few days.
If you want to make your own, but don’t have an enamelware colander, I’ve seen them at Ikea and they are available online from Amazon as well.

Cute idea! The green is stunning!
Have a great day!
Love it! Wish I had. Spot for one!
How nice to see such a nice piece of enamel from my country on your blog 🙂
I wonder what’s the story behind it and how it got all the way through the ocean into your creative hands 🙂 isn’t this amazing? hugs!!!
Angie- Would you consider doing a tutorial on how you and your husband made this cool light fixture? We’d love to know, I’m sure. Thank you!
What an amazing idea and I LOVE that green! Now I wish I could do pendant lighting in my kitchen, but our ceilings are a little too low for that, unfortunately. Sigh…now off to dream of higher ceilings…
Love it!
