Happy weekend everyone!
I have a new sign stencil to introduce in my line that I hope you’ll love.
One of my most popular free images is the It is Well with My Soul photograph (download HERE), so I wanted to make an inspirational sign stencil with the same title.

I used the stencil on this pallet wood coat hook, and love how it turned out, so I want to show you how super easy it is to make one of these.

The stencil design is about 8″ x 16″, so I needed two pallet wood planks in order to fit the design.
I used 2 scrap pieces of wood to connect the pallet planks together on both ends.

A little tip about using pallet wood. Rather than removing the nails the connect the planks to the pallet frame, I prefer to leave them intact. That way there are no holes in the plank, and the nails usually have really nice patina, which I love. To leave the nails intact, we use a Sawzall (affiliate link) to cut through the nail, between the pallet frame and the plank.

Another tip when stenciling – keep a junk cloth handy, and after you load your stencil brush with paint, wipe most of it off on the cloth, to prevent having too much paint on the brush, causing bleeding under the stencil. I pounce the brush back on the excess paint that is on the cloth when I need to add more to the brush.

Using a slightly rougher texture wood is better than really smooth wood, because the paint sticks to the wood, without sliding underneath the stencil.

This coat hook sign is available in my online shop HERE.

Love this one, too!
Your rustic sign with hook is fantastic, Angie…I think this would really suit a spa-type bathroom or even a bedroom because there is an air of serenity and restfulness about it that stems from the beautiful phrase from your newest stencil!
And what a beautiful and very generous thing to do, including a brush with each stencil purchased…as if your stencils weren’t amazing value enough to begin with, now they are even more so…this is a deal that just can’t be passed up! These are really quality brushes, too…I just LOVE mine and can’t wait to use it!!! 🙂
Fun design, Angie. Love the rustic pallet wood and the addition of the hook.
This is one of my favorite sayings. I made a reverse chalk transfer of it (different font) and have it hanging in my kitchen. Great choice!
