I’ve always loved the simplicity of daisies, and up until last week, they were my favorite flower, but when I went shopping for snapdragons to put in my Farmhouse Window Box, I passed some dahlias, whose blooms where stunning.
It was less expensive to buy the bulbs than the plants, so I bought a bag of them.
Given my track record with flowers, I’m not holding my breath that I’ll end up with plants with these beautiful blooms, but it can’t hurt to hope right?
Believe me, if they do bloom, I’ll be bragging about it! 🙂
While I try to wait patiently to find out, here are some of my favorite dahlia picks for home decor and gifts.

And speaking of flowers, my sweet father-in-law sent flowers to me for Mother’s Day.
The florist’s delivery driver couldn’t find my house that day, because he thought my street address was inside the city limit, and we live out in the country, but they called me and redelivered the next day.
I think the green flower in the center is a type of dahlia. Even if it isn’t, the bouquet is gorgeous.
The mason jar hanging on my corrugated and wood frame has been empty ever since I shared a photo of it filled with daisies for my entryway remodel reveal, so I was so happy to have more flowers to put in it.
I put the miniature roses my son gave me into a galvanized bucket, and hung it below the frame.
Now, my entryway is full of beautiful blooms!
I’ve got another flower project I’m really excited to share on Sunday, so stay tuned! 🙂
Vaya con Dios,
Oh Angie! Dahlia’s are one of my top 5 favorite flowers! They take me right back to my Grandma’s house! She had them in her front garden lining her front porch! They are just beautiful!! Just pop them in the ground, lots of water and they will grow! Well that’s what they do here in Aussie land, might be a little different where you are. Good luck and can’t wait to see your beautiful dahlia’s 🙂
You give me great hope, Sam!!!
Angie, you will love your dahlias. I’m sure they will be beautiful. I love the roses paired with all the rusty farmhouse tools. It’s gorgeous. How sweet of your father in law to send you flowers. The bouquet is just beautiful too. I think the green flower in the center is a spider mum. I’m looking forward to seeing your foyer too.
Thanks for telling me what that green flower is, Becky! My knowledge is flowers is limited to about 5 obvious ones – beyond that, they are just “pretty flowers” to me! 🙂
Those Dahlias are gorgeous! I have a brown thumb too and I quit buying plants because they always die, but you’ve inspired me to hope. I think I’ll give it another shot. ? Good luck with yours! ?
Well, good luck to both of us, Helene! 🙂
Dahlias are beautiful. I love green flowers. Hydrangea is my favorite, the greens and purples.
My guess would also be a spider mum tho I can’t see it really
clearly. I love flowers period but have never grown dahlias. In some
climates you have to dig them in the fall, not sure about yours. Great
post, thank you
