Our Best Family Summer Vacation
My son got married in California over the weekend! I’ll be sharing some photos later, but I thought I’d share a bit about our trip, and just a few photos from the wedding.
Since we were going to California, we made it our family vacation too. So we packed a lot in a short amount of time.
I realized that it’s our last vacation with just our immediate family – My husband, our two sons and our daughter, but I hope it’s just the beginning of our vacations including our new daughter-in law too!
We rented a car for the long road trip there (two full days of driving).
My mom, sister’s family, and father-in-law from New Mexico met us in California.
It was really like a great big family vacation, which was wonderful.
We rented a huge home on Airbnb that was large enough for all 14 of us.
It had a beautiful yard with a lemon tree, so we even picked fresh lemons.
The first day, we went to the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, which my husband and I hosted at a local restaurant.
The next evening we went to my daughter-in-law’s home for a Nigerian engagement party. Here are my son and his new wife in their Nigerian attire.
And the next day was the wedding!
The venue was so beautiful and needed very little in the way of decorating.
The bride looked radiant escorted by her father down the aisle.
Here are the bride and groom when they were presented to the guests. Sorry this is such a close up photo, but I was sitting in the front row!
My daughter-in-law’s father is a chief from Nigeria, and she is a princess. He wore his traditional Nigerian attire for part of the reception.
Here’s my son and I, getting ready to do the mother-son dance at the reception.
My son had fun shooting her garter!
The day after the wedding, the bride and groom left for their honeymoon cruise, and we went to the beach!
The water was COLD when I first got in!
We’re exhausted, but really had the best summer vacation while in California, and I’m happy to call myself a new Mother-in-Law!
Vaya con Dios,
What a beautiful wedding! I know you are one proud mama and mama in law!
Beautiful, enjoy the rest of your stay with family and safe travels back home.
Beautiful Bride and Groom! Best wishes to them…Stunning location for a wedding.
Looks like a beautiful day! Such a happy time for a family!
Beautiful wedding and family! Now, since your beautiful daughter in law is a princess will your son be a prince? J/K, lovely everything, welcome to California, hope you enjoyed your stay😉
It was a short vacation, but we had a wonderful time, Marylou!
LOL – no, he won’t be a prince, Marylou! 🙂
What a beautiful bride. Your son is so handsome. Looks like a perfect day. Congratulations.
Thank you so much, Becky. It was a beautiful day.
Thank you for sharing the beautiful wedding. Congratulations. If you don’t mind me asking, what part of California is this?
Susan, the wedding was in Trabuco Canyon
What a handsome couple your son and new wife make! And how wonderful to have the customs and influence of a different culture join your family. ( I was struck by how much your son looks like his papa, too. Do you think so?)
Glad you got to enjoy a wonderful family vacation as well as the beautiful wedding. And now you are an actual mother-in-law! How long until an actual grandma?? You’ll love the role whenever it comes, I promise!
Yes, he’s always looked so much like his dad, Naomi. I can’t wait to be a grandma, but my daughter-in-law is going on for her master’s degree, so they aren’t in a rush to have babies yet.
Angie, I meant to ask you how to enter the magazine contest. I don’t see a place to click. I clicked on the photo of the magazines, but that didn’t work.
At the bottom of the post is a Rafflecopter entry form, Naomi.
Congratulations to your handsome son and his beautiful bride, Angie! It looks like it was a wonderful wedding and you all had a great time in CA.
Congratulations! What a beautiful wedding and great that the plan and phone made it easy to travel and enjoy! #client
The wedding looks lovely! And he married a princess?! Nice!
Glad you had a great vacation in my neck of the woods.
Safe travels home.
