Favorite Things and Movie Recommendations: May Edition

Favorite Things and Movie Recommendations: May Edition

I thought I’d try something fun and different this month.  I don’t know if I’ll do it every month, so you’ll have to let me know what you think about it.

I’m going to share some of my recent favorite things along with some movie recommendations.

I always love hearing what shows and movies my friends have enjoyed, so I hope you find some you’ll like.

Maybe I’m really behind the times, but have you heard of nail dip powder?  It’s seriously the best thing.  My daughter and I both got a manicure a few days ago and I wanted to try a new nail salon that I’d heard about.  I’m so tired of my nail polish getting smeared trying to open my car door.  No matter how dry I think it is when I walk out the door, I still smear it.

That’s a thing of the past now.  Nail dipping at a salon is more expensive than a traditional manicure, but I think it’s worth it because it lasts longer and strengthens your nails.

I bought this set of enamelware measuring cups last year in Albuquerque Old Town and I love them.  You saw them yesterday when I shared my Mint Chocolate Berry Breakfast Smoothie.

I have a kitchen towel obsession and bought two of these”mint to be” towels.  I’ll keep one and save one for a gift.  At only $3, I wish I would have bought more.

This is a big want, not really a need, but I’d love to sell my black KitchenAid and get this Aqua Sky KitchenAid.

It would match my antique cook stove so well.

Now for a few movie recommendations.

Breathe:  Starring Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy

I’ve loved Claire Foy ever since seeing her in The Queen (also on Netflix).  Breathe is based on a true story and it’s simply a sweet love story.  Spoiler alert – This movie  is about a medically-assisted suicide, but it’s a beautiful story about love and commitment … just wanting to warn you in advance.

New in Town:  Starring Renée Zellweger, Harry Connick Jr., and Siobhan Fallon

If you want a good laugh, New in Town won’t disappoint.  Renée Zellweger is a riot and Harry Connick Jr. is just adorable.  You’ll also want to watch Cold Mountain (also on Amazon Prime) with Renée Zellweger also.  Both are older films, but well worth the watch.

Priceless:  Starring Joel Smallbone, Bianca Santos, Amber Midthunder, and Jim Parrack

Priceless is a romantic drama about human trafficking based on true events.   It has a distinctively Christian message and is very well done.

Well that’s a wrap for my favorite things and movie recommendations!

And just a little humor to kick off the weekend!

I hope your weekend is wonderful!

  6. Donna Kramer says

I loved Renee Zellweger in New in Town, Cold Mountain, Cinderella Man and Miss Potter. I read a book that I really liked, Rainwater by Sandra Brown and would have loved to have seen it made in to a movie with Harry Connick Jr. and the old, uniquely beautiful Renee Zellweger. Unfortunately, that can never be. 🙁
