I’ve been wanting to share the final project of my bathroom remodel, but we’ve had grey skies for several days in a row. So I’ll wait for brighter skies to take pictures. Instead, I’m going to share with you my DIY Farmers Market chalkboard, which I’m head-over-heels in love with!
How to Make a Farmers Market Chalkboard:
Watch the video or get the directions below.
- Stain or paint wood chalkboard frame, if desired. (I stained mine.)
- Remove transfer backing and place on chalkboard.
- Put painter’s tape around the edge of the transfer.
- Apply Chalkology paste at the edge of the transfer.
- TIP – Always start with the largest part of the transfer design. The smaller areas dry faster.
- Use a squeegee to drag the paste across the transfer, making sure to cover the screen print area of design.
- Remove transfer and clean so you can use it again.
- TIP – For large transfers like this one, I drop it in my bathtub (sticky side up) in a few inches of water to clean it.
Supplies Used: (affiliate links added for your convenience to help you find the supplies I used):
- Transfer
- Wood Framed Chalkboard
- Wood Stain
- Chalkology Paste in desired color (I used white.)
- Stir Stix
- Angled Squeegee
- Premium Clear Sealer Spray
The finished chalkboard is just gorgeous! There is so much detail and the white really pops against the black.
I was a little nervous about doing such a large transfer, but I think it turned out amazing.
I hung it up in my entryway above my sewing machine table, and it makes me happy every time I walk in the door and see it!
