Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas Chalkboard Sign
Today I would like to do something a little different.
I’d like for you to share your merry little Christmas memories and I’ll share one of mine.
I know sometimes Christmas can be a difficult time for some, but hopefully we all have at least one very merry Christmas memory.
Maybe it was when you were a child and received a very special toy.
Or maybe it was your first Christmas as a married person.
I’ll share a memory of mine along with my latest sign with only photos, not a lot of explanation.
If you’ve been following my 15 Days of Chalking series I think you’ll understand the process well enough.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
For me I think it was the Christmas my mom and dad put my sister and I’s small travel bag under the Christmas tree and we had to guess why.
I don’t remember if either my sister or myself guess the reason but it was because we were going to go with another family to a hotel for a few days that had an indoor swimming pool. That was a really big deal to us.
I think it was an even bigger deal to the other family. You see that year their father had passed away suddenly from a heart attack while at work. The mother was left with three children to raise by herself.
The youngest child was Janet. She was my age and we’d been friends our whole lives.
I’m sure visiting with my parents helped distract her from her grief while her kids were having fun with my sister and I.
We continued that tradition for probably 3 or 4 years after that and every year and they were fun and special times.
I know it isn’t even Halloween yet, but it’s never to early to wish you a Merry Little Christmas!

Thank you Angie, that was a special time and i enjoyed your telling. I always enjoyed Christmas at my parents big house there is 4 of us children and we all had families and there was room for all of us to be there at the same time. I will always remember all those wonderful memories.
Thanks for sharing your special memory Marlene!
I remember one year when I was about five and my brother and sister who are twins were about one. We lived on a farm then and had very little money. After the Christmas tree was set up the twins wouldn’t leave the decorations alone. So, instead of putting them in their play pen to keep them away from it she put the Christmas tree in the play pen! I always tho’t that was a resourceful idea on my mom’s part! I can still see that tree sitting in that silly play pen.
How funny Naomi! She must have been a fun mom.
