St. Charles Missouri Day Trip

St. Charles Missouri Day Trip

St. Charles Missouri Day Trip

Anyone else doing a staycation this year?

My husband started a new job, so no traveling for us this summer, other than  a day trip here and there, which is fine.  I really need to just relax and refocus anyway.

Guess I’m long overdue to just kick back for a spell.

My daughter and I started doing day trips last month.

We went to the  Saint Louis Zoo.  We plan to go back and see everything we didn’t have time for that trip.

But for our day trip this time, she chose Saint Charles.

Saint Charles is one of the prettiest cities.

St. Charles Historic Main Street

We started on one end and worked our way to the other end of Main Street.

So many fun shops, like this candy shop.  She bought a few bottles of soda there.

She took a selfie of us after drinking one of the blue sodas.  It turned her teeth and tongue blue!

And the Hobbit’s Hole.  I browsed but didn’t buy anything.

A fun sign.

And even residences on Main Street.

Flowers were everywhere.

It was a super hot day, so we cooled off with some ice cream here.

And so much history in this city.

Even Daniel Boone was there!

Daniel Boone’s latter years were spent in St. Charles County.

Many shops have signs like these to show their history.

St. Charles turned 250 years old this year and statues of Meriweather Lewis’s dog, Seaman, are all over the city.

Each one was different.

There were water bowls in front of many shops for people walking their dogs.

Neither one of us went there to shop.

We just love this quaint city.

My only purchase was a ticking stripe tea towel from 2 Simple Sisters.

Before going home, we ate dinner in the Lewis and Clark restaurant.  Good eating!

There are just SO many great shops and history here.  So if you are looking for things to do in the St. Louis area, this city should be on your list.  It’s well worth the drive with so many other things to do nearby.

Vaya con Dios,

Angie

  4. Loved doing day trips with my kids. We’re from California, so day trips to San Francisco, Carmel, Santa Cruz, Gold Country, Sonoma, etc. were our destinations. They’re older now, but think I need to get them going again. 😉
