It’s been three weeks ago today that my youngest son and I got on the train, headed for New Mexico. It was three weeks filled with worry, heart break, and tears (read that update here), and although it was hard to say goodbye to our family, I am so ready to get home, and get back to some semblance of “normal”. If you follow me on Facebook (here), you know we had some car issues on the first leg of our journey home, but {Read More}

I really haven’t fallen off the face of the earth, but I’m still in New Mexico with my family, and it’s been a bit of a roller coaster ride and a difficult time, but I’m not ready to share about it just yet, but I can say prayers for my whole family would be appreciated right now. Crackled Paint Product Review: Valspar Crackle Glaze
Chippy and crackled paint finishes are very popular right now – especially when the finish comes from natural age and wear, but sometimes you’ve just gotta fake it, if you want to make something that looks old. Since I was impressed with Valspar’s chalky paint (read my review here), I decided I would test and review Valspar Weathered Crackle Glaze and share my findings with you, along with some comparisons to other products that give a crackled paint finish. I was not paid {Read More}
Repurpose a Paint Can into Hanging Flower Holder
Repurpose a Paint Can: A few days ago, my husband and I were walking around Lowes, and I spotted empty paint cans that could be purchased, and it jogged my memory that I had one out in my workshop I could repurpose. I’ve had it for several years, and don’t even remember where I bought it. When I got home, I dug it out of the workshop. (and I really did have to dig for it – what a disaster it {Read More}

I’m not sure whether to call today’s project the last one of 2015, or the first one of 2016, but I haven’t decided what window {Read More}
Cats Versus Pooch : DIY Perch for Cats
Today’s project has abolutely nothing to do with Christmas, but it has everything to do with peace on earth (or at least peace in my house), because there’s a battle raging at my house between our dogs and cats. Well, it’s actually only a battle between both of our cats and one of our dogs, but it’s driving me crazy. The youngest of our four dogs is the troublemaker in the family, and she keeps raiding the cat’s food bowl. It does’t matter {Read More}

Gingham Christmas Wreath and Gift Cans with Video
I don’t know what it is about gingham, but it has an old-fashioned charm that I can’t get enough of. It reminds me of curtains hanging in an old farmhouse and vintage aprons. I bought an evergreen garland for my entryway, and had a lot left over, so I wired a leftover piece around a grapevine wreath to hang in my kitchen. I used this gingham wired ribbon to make a bow for the wreath. It’s easy to work with, and holds its shape {Read More}
