In YOUR Home

Every so often, a customer takes the time to send me photos of items they purchased from Knick of Time so I can see how they used them in their home. It’s a real blessing to me to know that they love what they got from me and wanted to share it *with* me!   Here’s a few photos I’ve received recently: Elisabeth ordered 2 sets of wood candle wall sconces.They look so gorgeous in her home! I love her style! {Read More}

French Country Farmhouse Side Table

This lovely old table came from a farmhouse in Illinois. This was no “Sit around and look pretty” table. It was a “You gotta earn your keep around here” table…and it showed. The farmer had clearly used it as a work table – I believe in the barn, so the top was badly worn, complete with crookedly hammered in nails. The rest of the table had the perfect chippy, rustic look,so I knew it was a table worth saving!Instead of {Read More}

Today’s Treasures

Here’s what I brought home today Probably my favorite thing is this Dupont Explosives Wood Crate I also loved this antique Cape Cod cranberry shipping crate And this old tennis racquet is pretty cool too Love the aged pages in this 1800’s Bible.  The cover isn’t connected anymore, but it’s still beautiful. Crank Up the Radio

So, yesterday I told you that I really wasn’t thinking when I bid and won this antique radio at an auction. I didn’t have any great reason for buying it – it was cheap and kinda cool is all I can think of. Well, sometimes…it pays to check your brains at the auction door! Here he is today. His insides (record player and radio box) have been removed.  I sanded him down all over, repainted with Valspar Churchill Hotel Wheat, {Read More}

What the Heck was I Thinking

Tuesday night is Auction Night for me and it was a little slow this week. There was tons of stuff – lots of it great stuff – but prices were going higher than I wanted to pay.  I wasn’t getting much and I was getting cranky because the temperature was about 98 and this building had only a few ceiling fans going. I hate going home with an empty van, after driving 30 minutes to get there, so when this {Read More}

Today’s Findings

2nd Time Was Not a Charm

So, yesterday I showed you the wood floor we refinished in our living room.  It turned out so beautifully beyond what we could have hoped and we couldn’t believe we lived on such nasty carpet for 5 years before discovering what was under it. Excited now, we moved on to yank out the same carpet in our bedroom, which is a mirror image of the living room, sharing one wall. Well…although also lovely in spots, this floor had suffered more {Read More}

Things That Were Hard to Part With

One of the pitfalls of liking the things you sell, is that sometimes it’s hard to part with the things you sell. I try to get only loosely attached, but still. Here are a few items from the last year that I *really* hated to see leave: 1907 Waltham Ladies Pocketwatch I paid $6 for it at a consignment shop.  Yeah, someone’s grandmother is rolling over in her grave over that.  I actually had no idea it was a valuable {Read More}

Who Knew?

I wish I had a picture of the carpet that was in both our living room and bedroom when we moved in 6 years ago, but I lost my computer (dumb) that had the photos of the floor.  I never saved the photos anywhere else (dumber), so they are lost forever. Suffice it to say – it was pure filth (there’s an oxymoron for you!)  Barns have cleaner floors. We knew there were wood floors under the carpet, but we’d {Read More}
