Best of DIY Projects

Now, let’s see YOUR Best DIY Projects!

Now, on to the project I created especially for this party!
Creating my Rustic Recipe Card Holder was so easy.  I have a lot of white in my kitchen, and want to bring in some of the pretty mint color of my antique stove.
I removed the little door from the ash bin, and took it to Lowes to have them make me a sample pot of the same color of paint.  I was so impressed they got a nearly exact match, just by scanning the little door with their magical color-matching machine!

Lowes Paint Sample

I used a piece of wood that was leftover from another project, and gave it a quick coat of paint.  Once it was dry, I just distressed it with my palm sander, and put some dark walnut colored wood stain over it, to accent the distressed areas, and added a wire hanger on the back.

Salvaged wood

I added a little bulldog clip to hold recipe cards, and 2 metal corners, from Hobby Lobby to give it a more finished look.  I also added a little cup hook at the bottom to hold measuring spoons.

Farmhouse Recipe Card Holder (1)

It is a perfect fit for the rustic, farmhouse style in my kitchen, and took all of about 20 minutes to make.  Now my recipe cards won’t get splatted while I’m cooking, yet they are easy to see.

If you like the recipe cards, they are available as a free printable here.
