Do you remember this poor little pony I bought last year?
I’m ashamed to admit it, but after taking that photo, I set him on the ground next to my photo area…and left him there…for about 10 months. In my defense, his “herd” was nearby, as my daughter’s miniature horse is usually close by my photo area and keeps the grass trimmed for me there, but I should have brought him indoors, but I didn’t have a great place to store him.
I can’t tell you how many times I looked at him and thought I should do something with him, but I never could get motivated to try to fashion new legs for him, since he only has one full leg.
With the realization that summer is coming to a close, I didn’t want to leave him sitting outdoors through another winter, I decided to remove the rocking base and create something new with it. The wood is a really pretty aged pale blue.
I added some twill tape to the top to use as a hanger.
and I attached antique apothecary bottles with wire to the wooden slats.
At the bottom, I added 2 antique date nails, that can be used as peg hooks.
I’m not sure what you’d call it, but it makes a pretty display when the bottles have fresh or dried flower stems in them and something pretty hanging from the date nails.
I may still attempt to do something with the pony, but if not I’ll at least salvage more parts off of him.
Blessings,
Angie

I bet you’ll find a use for the pony too. I like what you did with the slats. Very pretty. The pony is waiting for his transplants now. 🙂
Hi Angie … with the curved rockers, it looks almost like a part of a homemade snow sled and then again hanging, it looks like a ladder. I like it and glad you saved it. Love those numbered nails.

Poor little guy! You did good with the rockers, though. Now on to the rest of him!

Great repurposing idea Angie, so cute with the bottles. I’m sure the horse will have a new life soon, even if it’s one part at a time.
How clever are you. You just seem to be able to create anything from nothing:) You are very talented.
the horse is so fun broken legs and all. he’d look cute pulled apart and laid flat on a wall. I also can see a painted sign made out of the footplate!
The back leg of the pony looks like an old fashioned smoke pipe , just make the end a little pointy sand it some or paint it and make a sign out of it for a smoke shop. Just an idea. I’m not into promoting smoking but it would be adorable as a pipe. LOL
