Upcoming Projects

In the midst of all the cleaning and decluttering I’m doing around my house, I need to take lots of breaks to keep my sanity, so I thought I’d share a few upcoming projects I’m working on in between.

This drawer came from the front of an antique sewing machine table.  It’s very pretty, but is missing the decorative side pieces, so I’m working to transform it into something new and useful.  I’m also working on the sewing machine table base, but haven’t decided exactly what I want to do with it, or where I’ll go with it when it’s done, so I have more brainstorming to do about it.

I brought home this vintage doll cradle during the summer.  It is adorable, but has a “stuck in the 70’s” look, so it’s getting a whole new appearance as well.

My husband brought home quite a few wood doors recently, that were display models.  We’re installing a few of them in our home, but this one was warped a bit and couldn’t be used, so I have another plan for it.  Come back next week to see how all these pieces turn out.  I’m still finishing a few of them up, so I’ll be as surprised as you!

My “dear John” husband is making progress on the floor in our bedroom, tearing out several layers of flooring to get to the wood plank floor underneath it, so it’s a big mess right now, but I’m excited and can’t wait for this step of the remodel to be finished.  It should look similar to the floor in our guest room when it’s done.

Will you be working on any new projects this weekend, or just kicking back and relaxing?

I hope you have a great weekend, whatever you’ll be doing!

  1. Can’t wait to see what you do them! Especially the little cradle.

  2. Hi Angie!
Kudos to you on refinishing the floor!
We papered ours over the last week of the year! Oh my…what a chore. Probably would have been better to ‘refinish’ but …just wasn’t the way to go for us. Still… lots of work either way.
That door looks great…and though warped, I’m sure it will become something awesome for you! The other doors in your home, should look great!
I used to have a similar cradle in my attic– I have no idea what’s up there now… so much stuff!
I’m gradually getting rid and purging for the impending move… whew! that’s a job.
looking forward to seeing your projects and your floor!

  3. Hi, Angie! I love the look of these projects! the details on that sewing machiine drawer are stunning! But what really caught my eye was the chair behind it! I’ve been trying to describe to my dh how I want to paint the mantle he made me for Christmas….and I was able to show him this chair and now he knows! So thanks!!!

  4. I feel your pain! We’re in the middle of a remodel of a cute little house in north Georgia, creates quite a mess, but will be wonderful when completed! I have an antique sewing machine and cabinet with a similar drawer (although o detail on the front at all), so I’m really curious to see what you do with your drawer.

  5. LOVE your creative energy – AND the quote at the bottom of your page ! ~ Lyn

  6. Hi Angie,
Am very much enjoying see what you do with all your terrific finds. As to the sewing machine front….a wall shelf comes to mind. Find some trim for the sides, shorten the depth to wall size and add paint. Would be really fun hanging on a wall. Another thought might be some kind of tray for a table…..one that perhaps sits against a wall so the “bland” side of the drawer/tray is not seen. Can’t wait to see what you do with these.

  7. i keep looking for a sewing machine table base but the one’s i find cost to much for me.

Our house has a set of metal French doors with double glass with plastic window panes sandwiched between. It was leading to a deck but the previous owner enclosed the deck to make a 13×13 feet room. I hate looking into this room while eating and the curtain ideas never work. Ideas? I need that warped door! I would like to remove at least one door or even both.

  9. Ooh, I love that drawer! Anxious to see what it becomes!

The sewing table I have I won’t touch, it means to much to our family just the way it is. Still has the machine in it. Remember the cold old area that went to the front door and up the stairs at the old farm house in Washington ? That’s where Aunt Dorothy worked on her quilts. That’s the one I have ! Hugs kiddo

  11. I look forward to see what you do with those pieces you have. My husband is also working on floors, in one of the bedrooms. It’s a real mess, just like yours!

  12. Are there any updates on these projects?

    Thank you,
    Robbie
