I’ve been having a very lazy and relaxing weekend away from home, but wanted to show you a super quick project I did before I left. I picked up this vintage metal tray at a thrift store recently. I couldn’t resist the gingham print on it. It’s a little bit worn and rusty, but I think it’s cheerful and charming. I used E6000 glue to attach D-ring hangers on the back, and tied a red ribbon around those to hang it by. It makes an adorable magnet board.
Gingham always reminds me of picnics, so I went to Hobby Lobby to look for something to use as magnets on the tray. I was hoping to find some tiny plastic ants, so it would look like ants crawling on a picnic blanket, but didn’t have any luck, but I did find these adorable little white plates that are miniature house accessories, so I just glued magnets to the back of them.
Totally switching seasons now, remember a few days ago I shared a spring time photo of my pretty country road, and mentioned that I wish I would have taken one during the winter? Well, I was going through old photos on my hard drive and found one that I did take a few years ago and had forgotten about! I took it while big fluffy snowflakes were falling. I plan to work on a 4 season photo display with all my shots of my road.
Have a great weekend!

Sooooo cute. I just love checks.
Great idea!!! Now I know what to do with all those old trays my mom has stashed in her attic!! Love the little plate magnets too…who knew a child’s doll house could lend such fun to a memo board. LOVE it!

That tray was a one-in-a-million find and I love that you didn’t mind a bit of rust and turned it into something so special! The little plate magnets are absolutely adorable…and clever as always! And I have to say that the winter photo of your road is just breathtaking…WOW! I hope you will share your photo display of all four seasons with us!
I love it.
