When I was a kid, we had the most amazing neighbor who really loved all the neighbor kids. I have many wonderful memories of my childhood because of her.
She would take us on hikes through a nearby park in the summer, where we’d pack a picnic lunch and wear our swimsuits so we could climb on a rope that hung from a tall tree to swing out into the creek below.
Her favorite holiday was Halloween, and she went all-out for it. Her driveway was lined with ghosts, and she even had ghosts strung up on a cable that came swooping down at you as you walked up to the house.
She greeted us at the door dressed in a witch costume, and all the kids loved her.

What a sweet story about your neighbor. My neighborhood was loaded with houses with kids and Halloween was such a great time, we could walk safely from house to house on our own. Many, many fond memories.
That is a great story about your neighbor. I must admit I kinda feel sorry for kids these days – we used to roam far and wide.
