Jack-o’-lantern Halloween Treat Bucket
I’ve avoided my workshop (AKA “junk shop” for so long I’d forgotten about some treasures hidden in the abyss. This, my friends, is one of those hidden treasures.
It’s a rusty old handled bucket.
I brought it in the house, wiped off the cobwebs and crud, and then just stared at it for a while trying to decide what I should do with it.
I thought about turning it into a planter, but since summer is almost over that seemed like a not-so-great idea. Instead I started thinking about a fall project and BINGO … an idea popped into my head!
I thought it would make an adorable Jack-o’-lantern Halloween treat bucket and set out to turn it into one.
So I went and bought some orange and black felt.
When I got back home, I realized the orange felt wasn’t big enough.
Rats!
No worries, though. Dixie Belle Florida orange paint to the rescue!
Here it is after one coat.

Lookin’ good so far.
Here it is after two coats.

Lookin’ even better!
To turn the handle into a stem, I got out my Evergreen Dixie Belle paint.

Lookin’ like a pumpkin now!
To bring my Jack-o’-lantern Halloween treat bucket to life, I used the black peel and stick felt to cut out the parts of the face. I love this stuff for super easy crafting.

Gotta put on a happy face!
All finished. Now to fill it up!
Isn’t he cute!
Since I don’t have young kids anymore (except my husband!), I’ll set it on the kitchen table and let my family grab snacks out of it.
I might have to help myself to a Twix or two!
While I was in my new workroom (formerly the guest room) late last night, I heard a raccoon in the old workshop next door banging junk around.
I guess I better get back out there to salvage what I want to save so that little bandit doesn’t make off with anything!

Vaya con Dios,
This is so cute! And it reminds me that I have an old bucket kind of like that (larger but with the wooden handle) that I found at the dump a few years ago. It’s been sitting in the garage waiting for inspiration and now I know what to do with it!

What a lucky find Tania!
Your project is so cute…and I love the idea of peel and stick felt! Thanks for sharing!
Hope that raccoon moves on!
I do too Linda! He also climbs up and eats my bird food. Pest!
I love this project and it is so cute, thanks Angie.
Thanks Marlene!
This is so cute. I didn’t know you could get peel and stick felt. Thanks for sharing.
Debra, peel and stick felt is great! Thanks for your sweet comment!
That is a very creative treatment for an old bucket, Angie! I think it is seriously cute. I’d never be able to put it out on my kitchen counter with so much candy in it, though. First, because I would eat some every time I passed it! Secondly, because my twin seven-year-old grandsons who live with me would take it to their room and pig out ’til the cows come home–or they got sick! I’d have to put flowers in it! Or maybe fill it with green apples. What do you think?
Oh, yeah, I’m also happy to know about peel and stick felt. Never heard of it before. Thanks!
LOL Naomi! I’ll probably remove the face after Halloween and put some flowers in it for Thanksgiving.
So cute! Great trick-or-treat bucket for handing out candy. Visiting from Inspiration Monday party.
Thanks so much Victoria!
Love this. You were my pick for WNW favorites this week
