Chalk Couture DIY Kitchen Gift Ideas
First of all, I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming response to the free sample Chalk Couture mini kit offer.
I’m getting your addresses from you and will start shipping the kits as soon as more squeegees arrive. I was wiped out quick!
We’re at project #7 of my 15 Days of Chalking series. Almost to the halfway point!
Today, I have two projects that are inexpensive gift ideas. It won’t be long until Christmas is right around the corner!
Both projects use Couture Ink on fabric using the Your Life Your Story transfer.
I think anyone will love the message on this small transfer.
You can use all the elements or just a few. Click on the link above to see how all of them were used. I only used the message.
First up, a cute potholder.
I only bought one to test how it would turn out, and I think it’s sooo cute!
I went back a few days later to buy more so I could take photos for the tutorial, but they didn’t have any!
This has not been my week for things selling out.
My best tip is that you have to slide a small tile inside the pocket to make a firm surface under the transfer. There is quilted fabric on the other side, so the tile keeps the transfer from bleeding from those quilt lines.
My other tip is that usually you have to heat-set the ink with an iron, but I don’t recommend it on black fabric. It can turn the white ink brown. Just let it dry completely. It will fade slightly when washed.
The second project is another dish towel. Again, it turned out cute, if I do say so.
I have plenty of these towels because I sell them in my Etsy shop, so I could take photos of the process.
Affix the transfer below the center of the towel. You’ll need any color of Couture Ink. I used black.
You’ll also need a small squeegee (see the free offer below) and tape to mask off the design.
I masked off around the sides and covered the cut lines. I don’t like to cut apart my transfers because sometimes I use them as one piece.
The key to using ink on fabric is to put on very little. If you put on too much, it may bleed under the transfer.
Peel and reveal …
You have to let the ink dry, then iron with parchment paper over the design on both the front and back to set the ink.
What do you think of it? I’m gifting both the potholder and towel to one of my daughter-in laws. I hope she likes them!
I’ve put together an inexpensive special so you can make the dish towels too!
When you purchase the Your Life Your Story transfer (which can be used over and over), 1 Ink (the Black Velvet, Midnight Sky or Candy Apple ink are recommended), and 1 Small Squeegee, I’ll send your choice of two red stripe or two blue stripe dish towels or 1 of each at no charge! That’s a $10.00 value.
The towels measure 28″ x 18″ and are 100% cotton with a loop in the corner to hang by. All edges are hemmed.
The cost is $28.48 + tax & shipping.
Click on the BOLD links above to purchase the transfer, inks & squeegee.
If you would like only the transfer You can purchase directly from me with free shipping.

🎄🎄! If you order this Noel transfer + 1 other transfer, I’ll send you 3 free samples of chalk paste (white, red, & green) as a Thank-You. If you order 3 transfers, I’ll also throw in a small squeegee at no charge.
There are 25 brand new holiday transfers to choose from, so you’ll have a hard time picking!
This would make a sweet gift.
The board & base are on backorder, but I have 2 available. Message me if you would like to order it from me.
That’s all for today. I’ll be back tomorrow with another project.
Vaya con Dios, everyone.
