DIY Scripture Sign Be Courageous: Chalking Series Project 12
Yesterday was my firstborn son’s birthday. It’s hard to believe that it was 28 years ago that I became a parent for the first time. I feel kind of sorry for him because he was a bit like a guinea pig teaching me everything I didn’t know about being a mom.
He survived though and grew into a wonderful young man who now has a beautiful wife.
His favorite Bible verse is Joshua 1:9, and when I realized that Chalk Couture made a beautiful transfer with that verse on it, I knew I had to make him a sign.
They offer several styles of chalkboards sized for this transfer, but I thought he would like one with a black frame the best.
This design is made to cut apart, but I kept it as one piece. Since I couldn’t decide if he would like the bear or eagle better at the top of the verse, I used both.
I could have used colors for the animals but decided to use all white and keep it simple. I didn’t want the animals to stand out more than the verse itself.
So this will be a very simple photo tutorial to make a DIY Scripture sign.
It only took about 6 minutes from start to finish, including clean-up.
I made a mess on the edge of the frame when I removed the transfer but that was an easy clean up.
The lines left were transfer was meant to be cut apart were easily removed with a damp cotton swab.
Here’s the end result. I think I need to make one for me to keep!
If you enjoyed this project, I would love it if you pin it or share it!🙂

We got him something else for his birthday, so I’m saving this sign to give him for Christmas.
I’m making each one of my kids and daughters-in-law something.
I hope they will like them!
My mom arrives tomorrow for a visit. She’ll be here for a few weeks, so I’ll have someone to play games with again!
Vaya con Dios,
Angie
It turned out great! A wonderful verse…your son will love it!
Very nice, Angie! I think gallery walls are so interesting. It does take some trial and error to get them just right, though. I’ve been wanting to do one for quite a while but I can’t find quite the right place to do it. My house is small and there’s not much wall space for hanging things. One day it will happen, though.
The photos you used for the gallery wall are so nice. You sure have a nice-looking family. Thanks for the referral to the canvas photo company. I’ll have to check it out.
