Wood Recipe Box Makeover
When I asked for your opinions about some of my thrift store finds, you all had so many great ideas.Β And I listened!
Let me show you what I did.
I took one reader’s suggestion and used spray paint to cover just the box part and left the lid unpainted.Β I removed the lid before painting the box.
Two coats of spray paint, letting it dry between coats, made it look great.
It kind of looks like a birdhouse without the hole at this point!Β π
I used my new favorite Chalk Couture transfer “Sweeter Than Honey” to dress up both the box and the lid.
Sweeter Than Honey is part of The Bee’s Knees Collection.Β π
Only the top of the transfer and one of the bees was used for the lid.
Here’s how it turned out.Β So sweet now!
For the front, I used the same bee with the beehive.
I did the words in White Chalk Paste and the bee in Bumblebee Chalk Paste and the hive in Bark Paste.
I wanted to use the other bee as well, so I added it to a small candle jar.
The candle is honeysuckle-scented, because we all know bees love honeysuckle!
Can I just say I couldn’t BEE happier with my $2.50 wood recipe box now!
I have several more projects planned for this affordable Sweeter Than Honey transfer that can be used so many ways.
I’d love to hear your ideas too, and I just might try one!
If you enjoyed this project, I would really appreciate if you would share on Facebook or Twitter and PIN IT!

Vaya con Dios,

Angie! I love this!! It reminds me of Grandpa Thomas & his bees & beekeeping!! I was young when he had them & got honey from them. On my birth certificate, his occupation back then (86 years ago) was “beekeeper”.
Angie I love this! You inspired me to find a similar box!
So cute, it really turned out wonderful.
Very pretty, I love it!
