Talk of the Town #63

Even though we got a really cold streak the last few days, I have spring fever and have been decorating my guest room this week.  I can’t wait to share all the changes tomorrow, so be sure to come see them, but now it’s time to see what others have been working on!

He Wore a Blue Bandana, Freckles, and a Smile

  Years ago when my daughter was just a little girl, she was going through some tough times in her life. Her beloved dog had gotten very sick and died, then she had surgery and was laid up for several weeks, then she found out her best friend was moving away. It was hard to watch her go through these tough times and not be able to do anything to make it better. But God knew exactly what she needed. His name was Jake.

Glowing Mason Jar Luminaries DIY Christmas Tote

When I was a little girl, one of my favorite things to do at Christmas time was to lie underneath the Christmas tree and stare up at the glowing colored lights. Nine times out of ten, I’d drift off to sleep lying there, while visions of kiss cookies and Christmas presents danced in my head. I’m too big to get under the tree now, so I came up with two easier ways to enjoy Christmas lights around the house. Remember {Read More}

Paw Prints on Our Hearts | Saying Goodbye to Shiloh

A true friend leaves paw prints on your heart. We’ve known this day was coming for months, but it finally came time to put my oldest son’s beloved beagle Shiloh to sleep yesterday. Every pet owner has stories to tell about their beloved pets, so I hope you’ll indulge me while I share some of mine. I just need to talk about her today…

Grocery Store to Gorgeous Recycle Bin Projects

When your a crafty creative person who loves to make your own home decor, you can spend a small fortune on supplies , so I’m always thinking up cheap and free project ideas that keep my costs under control. With some creative thinking, a lot of the packaging our products from the grocery store come in can become beautiful home decor, and best of all, it doesn’t cost any extra money, since the packing comes with the food. Some of my {Read More}

Update a Thrift Shop Flower Pot + Failed Plans

All winter I had sworn off going to thrift stores, so I could make some progress on the things I already have, but the last few weeks I’ve been binge shopping.  It started pretty innocently when I found this flower pot that I knew could look pretty once I gave it a painted update.  It was the only purchase I made that day, but I made the mistake of returning another day and brought home BAGS full of stuff that {Read More}

It Was Father’s Day

I had only been back home from New Mexico for a few weeks after my mother-in-law passed away, when my sister called saying that my dad’s health had gotten even worse. I had to go back. I had to talk to my dad before he passed away. I had something I needed to talk to him about, or I would never have peace in my heart. I got on the train again and went back, and I’ve been staying with my parents {Read More}

Vaya con Dios – another personal update

My blog’s been pretty quiet, and with my husband’s blessing, I feel it’s time I explain why. It’s an update I’ve been very hesitant to  give for the sake of the privacy of my family, and also because it’s just hard to talk about. I explained previously that I was coming to New Mexico to be with my parents because my dad’s health has been declining.  After I arrived, he ended up back in the hospital in ICU, but for the time {Read More}

I’m still in New Mexico with my family, so I’ve invited Karen from Dogs Don’t Eat Pizza,to share how she repurposed an old Coke crate into a spice rack with you today.  Take it away, Karen! Angie and I are two peas in a pod decor-wise, so {Read More}
