Pretty Weeds

How can something so bloomin’ pretty be so durn vicious?! My son and his 2 friends were roaming through the fields and came across these weeds. Which of you gardeners knows what they are called? I think the blooms are incredible looking, but goodness, the stickers on the stem and leaves make you think twice about touching them and the undersideof the bloom is just as mean. They have razor sharp thorns. The bugs sure don’t mind them though. I think {Read More}

{Sonday} Amen!

Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. Philippians 4:20 Isn’t this antique grain sack wonderful?It’s quite stained and tattered,but it still has a lot of life in it. I bought it a few months ago, and eventually plan to turn it into something. I pulled it out to brainstorm and noticed that the name on the bag is “M. Amen”   I can’t think of a better name to have. To God be the Glory, Angie {Read More}

Good Ole’ Summer Time

I know technically it isn’t summer yet, but it sure feels like it today at our house. And, what’s summer without watermelon, right? My daughter was sitting outside eating the watermelon we had left over from Memorial Day, and her dog wanted to try it. He ended up chewing every last bit off of every rind she threw to him.Sure hope he doesn’t get a tummy ache later! He’s always been a fruity kind of dog though. I hope you’re {Read More}

The Same Old Question

I’m going to preface this post by saying, I love my husband. I’ve shown you the work he’s done on our house… and the one before this one… and the one before that one… (well, you didn’t see that one, because it was 2 states and 7 years ago).He’s very talented and willing to take onnearly any project idea I throw at him, (with a slight bit of begging). I want to also say that he’s an extremely bright guy.   {Read More}

Happy June!

I came across this sweet illustration with the phoneticspellings of words in a child’s school reader and it seemed a perfectway to welcome the 1st day of June. {Get the Look} – Relique Bicycle Seat on Stand

The inspiration for today’s “Get the Look” project came from Relique.com, who sells a set of 5 Bicycle Seats on Stands for $659…OUCH! Their price tag gives me heart palpitations, but I can spend a ridiculous amount of time on their website. They carry some seriously interesting stuff. While 5 of them do look interesting grouped together, I don’t have 5, but I did already have this 1 rusty, old bicycle seat. Looking through my stash of junque (it doesn’t {Read More}

Antique Graphics Wednesday – No. 1, 2 & 3 and 1800’s Mantelet and Fashions

I’ve got some really wonderful images for you today. They all come from some mid-1800’s Peterson’s magazines (again!). All of the No. images are actually the numbered parts of a pattern, but I thought the typography was so pretty and could be used on so many projects. Here’s the pattern they came from.  It’s a pattern for a “mantelet”, which is a short cape. Are there any seamstresses out there who feel inspired to attempt this pattern?  If so, I’d {Read More}

It’s in the Bag

If I went to every yard sale, thrift store and auction  the rest of week and all of them were duds, I’d still be content because I came home with this from the auction tonight. I love the handles and the buckle on it.  The funny thing is, I didn’t even win this at the auction. I won 5 boxes full of JUNK (and it truly was junk), and I only wanted a few things out of 1 of the {Read More}
