A Theme for Thursday – {book bundles}

I’ve been working on projects for my shop by “theme” lately.
Not only am I able to accomplish more by focusing on one theme at a time,
I’m enjoying it more, because each little project seems
to give me an idea for the next one.

Normally, I’ve got about 5 projects going on any given day,
so I have chalkboard paint and old book pages and fabric,
in additional to our usual household mess, so
by focusing on one thing, I’m not pulling out
3 dozen different kinds of supplies at the same time – just a few things.
This week my theme ended up being books.
It’s been awhile since I put together some book stacks,
but a customer requested some particular colors she needed,
so I decided to put together more book stacks for the shop.

I enjoy doing stacks in various color shades.
I think my favorite set I put together is the red set with
the old leather strap around it – it reminds me of boys
in the “old days” carrying their books held together with their belt.

Here’s a similar version with an old canvas belt around it.

I bound other stacks up with lace, grosgrain ribbon,
and remnant of antique tape measure and a remnant
of old blanket binding.

Then I had some fun playing with color tones on Picmonkey.
I’ve known about Picmonkey for quite awhile, but finally
got around to trying it.   Making fun collages makes me
want to come up with lots of new themes, just so
I can make pretty pictures with them!
Last week my theme was Autumn, so I
went through my workshop and picked out
anything I thought would look great for fall for this theme.
(toolbox and books are sold)
I also picked the theme of autumn sheet music to share with you
Hmmm…I wonder what will inspire me next week!

Blessings,
Angie

  4. I love that old belt…it’s a treasure in itself! I love books and I bought a little book of hymns at the thrift store this morning and thought of you! I’ll probably just put it on my piano. Hugs!

  5. Thanks so much for sharing this post, Angie!I was wondering what to decorate with to be able to take down the Summer stuff but it is still so hot where I live, I’m not really “into” Fall decorating yet. I think book bundles would be great for transistioning.

  6. I just love your book bundle theme! Hugs, Penny

  7. Hi Angie: What beautiful book bundles–I put a pretty stack of books on a cake stand for summer, but I may transition into a book bundle like yours for fall–very pretty idea! Your mosaic pictures are really fun as well.

  8. Oh my gracious.. I just stumbled across your blog and was immediately sucked in. You’ve got some good stuff, lady! Look at that wall paper and ladies room!! These bundled books are very cool too. Nice to meet you. 🙂

  10. Of course my favorite is red! Love the book bundles and the idea of themes per week! Thank you for sharing at Potpourri Friday!

  11. All of the book stacks look great, but there sure is something endearingly old-fashioned about the red ones tied with the old belt!

  12. I love the bundles but when I hopped over to your Etsy shop I was soooooooo disapointed you don’t ship to Oz!

  13. I’ve been looking for a perfect pairing to lift my little clock up off the shelf…book bundles! love it.

  14. I can almost see a little boy carrying those books with his jeans rolled up and a cowlick in his hair. Great fall decor!

  15. Just found your blog and so thrilled I did. Such cute ideas. Perhaps, maybe one day I’ll try some

  16. Love book bundles – I use them throughout the house and my booth. I also have been in love with Pic Monkey for a couple of months. Sometimes it is hard to just stop.

  18. Great idea, keeping projects down to a theme. I don’t know if I could be that organized. I also love the bundle with the old belt on them. I might try that idea sometime. Thanks for the inspiration.

  26. OMGosh just found your blog….oooo soooo cute! Love the bundles!

  27. The weekly theme idea is genius! I know what you mean about dragging stuff out. I work full-time, so craft, etc., nights and weekends. I feel like I spend more time pulling out supplies and moving them around than actually creating something useful.

The book bundles are wonderful. But, then, I do have a soft spot for old books!

  28. OH hello!! I love all these ideas! You need to link up this post too! You will love my tablescape that I did using old belts for napkin rings! Karin

  29. This is so fun! I LOVE it! I would love if you would share this at my Crazy Cute Party happening right now! I’ve got a totally awesome giveaway that you could win just for linking up! Come on over! ;D
