I brought home this teapot lamp last week and since I’m not really a teapot (or is it a coffee pot?) kind of gal, I thought I’d just use the lamp parts on another project and pitch the teapot. My husband convinced me to fix it up though, (probably because he knew I’d ask him to help me use the parts on another project), so I took his advice.
I didn’t take a before picture, but the teapot had a fake silver finish which was starting to fleck off. I was too lazy to try to sand the whole teapot down to remove the flecking finish, so I painted it bright white instead.
I liked how it looked, but decided a cream color would look a little more old-fashioned, so I gave it another few coats. Knowing the flecking paint underneath might continue flecking, I distressed those areas and to highlight some of the raised details.
It didn’t come with a lampshade, but I had a spare one in my workshop.
It was pretty boring looking, so I brushed painted it with some pretty mint paint and added some cream-colored twill tape around the edges.

So much prettier! You really perked it up. 🙂
It’s so darn cute and won’t last long in your shop. I like the color and the way you prettied up that boring shade.
Well, well, well, My silver teapot is started to peel at the base of the spout, I may have to paint it like you did. Love this
It turned out just great, Angie! It’s such an adorable lamp now.
Well you might not be a teapot kinda gal, but I’m a little teapot short and stout.
Bliss
Love the tea pot lamp! Great job, Angie.
I have been wanting to make a tea pot lamp out of one of my old tea pot or silver coffee pots ? It’s just takes some knowledge which I don’t have
maybe i will run across one at a good price this summer at a sale ? they are usually $65.00
Really cute!
