Repurposed Milk Crate Padded Storage Stool

Repurposed Milk Crate Padded Storage Stool
I’ve always loved old metal milk crates, because they make useful storage containers that look great, so I brought another one home a few weeks ago from an auction.  This one had been well-used and is super rusty and some of the metal slats on the bottom were broke, so I thought it needed some attention to make it look special again.

Of course, the perfect thing to use on it was the Milk and Cream Co. image I love so much (stencil available HERE).

I bought a foam seat cushion at Hobby Lobby, (using a coupon, of course) and stapled the fabric around the cushion, onto a board that was cut to fit the top.  The sides were finished off with black twill tape and some upholstery tacks.

milk crate foot stool I didn’t take a photo of it, but to keep the seat from sliding off the crate, another board was cut that fits inside the crate opening, so it’s slightly smaller than the top board.  I stapled more fabric around it, then screwed it to the underside of the cushioned board, so it keeps the seat snugly in place.

I love how this Milk Crate Padded Storage Stool turned out!

If  you’ve read my blog for any length of time, you know I have an obsession about using the Milk & Cream image, but in case you missed any of my projects with it, you can see them all here.
