Weekending & $50 Walmart Gift Card Giveaway Winner Announced

I don’t normally bite my nails, but I’m in full blown nail-biting mode right now.`

Tomorrow my husband and I are meeting the parents of my rock climber son’s fiancee.  I hope my hubby doesn’t pop any off-color jokes, and I hope I don’t talk one hundred miles an hour.  That’s what I usually do when I’m nervous.

But I got my hair cut and eyebrows waxed, and bought a new shirt to wear.  So hopefully I’ll look calm, cool, and collected on the outside, even though I’m a nervous wreck on the inside. Wish me luck. 🙂

And in spring news …

The first grass mowing of the season is cause for celebration with some pink roses in a vintage wire basket! | www.knickoftime.net

My husband mowed our front lawn the other day for the first time this year.  It called for a celebration with roses before the dandelions pup up.

I bought a bag full of gladiolus bulbs.  I’m counting the days until I can cut cut some.

Grow, babies, grow!

And speaking of flowers …

The Fresh Flowers stencil is available HERE.

Weekending | Indigo dyed Easter eggs and more random thoughts | www.knickoftime.net

And these indigo marbled eggs … they are stunning.  You can’t eat them if you use real eggs, so use faux eggs and you’ll have egg works of art.

Weekending | garden seed packet cabinet from thrift store find

These adorable seed packet drawers – I’m so in love with them.  You wouldn’t believe how they started out though.  See the DIY here.

I just thought of a fifth way to use this rustic farmhouse drawer.  I can’t wait to start on it when I get back home.  If you missed it, here are the first, second, third, and fourth ways I used it.

More random weekend thoughts …

Have you watched Mercy Street?  I just discovered it, so I’ve been binge-watching seasons 1 & 2 (affiliate).  I love history-based shows and this one has me hooked.  I just finished season 1 and am getting ready to start season 2, so don’t tell me what’s going to happen if you’ve already seen it.  If you haven’t watched it,  it’s a Civil War story about two nurses.  One is a northern abolitionist and the other is a southern belle.  I’m so bummed though, because apparently there won’t be a season 3.

I’ll have to find another show to binge watch now.  Any suggestions?

Speaking of binging …

I bought a big jar of Nutella last weekend.  Nutella and pretzels are a match made in heaven.

And I just realized that I never announced the giveaway winner of the Family Movie Night $50 Walmart gift card.  Oops – my bad!  The winner is Ellie Wright.  Have fun with your gift card, Ellie.

And before I go, can I ask you a favor?  I’ve had a goal of reaching 50,000 Facebook followers for a longggg time.

These days, it’s hard to get your blog posts seen on Facebook or reach new followers unless you fork over money to Facebook.

I totally get it.  They are a business and need to make money, but my fork is overworked right now, so if you aren’t already following me on Facebook, I hope you’ll take a moment to do that, and also share my page on Facebook to your friends and family.  I truly appreciate it. 🙂  Just click HERE or on the image below.

Happy Weekend!

  1. That set of mini drawers is very cool. And somehow, I had assumed I was already a FB follower of yours but I guess I wasn’t. Am now!
Good luck with the meeting of the future in-laws. I’m sure it will go great.

  2. Mary Boger says

Good luck with meeting the future in-laws! Stay calm and enjoy
    the day.

  3. Annette McPeake says

Good luck with your in laws. Just be yourself and all will be fine. Four years and a half ago, I reconnected to my childhood sweetheart, after almost 30 years apart. Meeting his parents again, was so nervewrecking, I felt like I was 13 years old, all over again. Happily, am now married to my sweetheart, and have the best in-laws ever.

  4. Hey Angie,

Reading how anxious you are about meeting the in-laws reminded me of the movie “Father Of The Bride”.
George Banks (Steve Martin) was so nervous before, and upon arriving at the McKinzie’s house.
Other than the bathroom mirror, the bank statement book and falling into the pool it turned out great for him…
Thankfully the groom’s Father revealed to George and Nina Banks that he had changed shirts several times because he too was extremely nervous.
I’ve been reading / enjoying your blog for months now and I honestly believe the in-laws will love you. You are quite an entertaining and creative lady. ???
Here’s to a wonderfully blessed future as two families become one!!! ??????

P.S. I too love gladiolus especially the hot pink ones, they’re beautiful. ???
(these tulips are the closest emoji to gladiolus, my iPhone has) ? Oh well.

P.P.S. Have you heard of “Outlander” it’s on STARZ?
It’s based on the book series by author Diana Gabldon.
Diana usually takes 2-4 years to complete a book, due to the extensive amount of historical research she adds to each book. They’re worth the wait!!!
The main Characters Claire and Jamie meet in Scotland in the 1700’s.
If this interests you, listen to the audio books. I listen while I’m crafting, creating, decorating, etc.
Davina Porter narrates the books, her narration really brings the characters to life!!!
    ???
I’ve listened to the audio books sooo many times, through the years, that hearing Claire (the actress) speak in the first few episodes of the TV Series threw me. ???

Well I hope I’ve helped distract you, and your nerves for a little while.
    ~ Rena ???

  5. Praying for peace for you with your in-law meeting 🙂 Thanks so much for the shout-out for my project–couldn’t have done it without your terrific, high quality stencil!!

  6. Maybe it would help to remember that the other parents are probably nervous too. No doubt everything will work out fine – after all you are a celebrity!
