Repurposed Coffee Can Kitchen Herb Garden

Repurposed Coffee Can Kitchen Herb Garden

The perfect easy project for coffee lovers to make a kitchen herb garden in 10 minutes!

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again … When companies put their products in metal containers with cool text or images on it, I’ll buy it!

There’s a reason you find all those old metal cans in antique stores.

50 years from now, I doubt you’ll find plastic containers with peel off labels in antique stores.  You may find them in garages filled with nails, but no one saves them for their looks.

I’m especially drawn to vintage style text and images, but when I spotted this metal coffee can at Sam’s Club, I loved the fonts and not so subtlety suggested my husband should get the coffee.

Just to try it out, you know? 🙂

I ever so patiently waited for him to finish the contents, because I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.

I’d turn it into an herb planter for my daughter.

She found the perfect little house that was move-in-ready and the day she was going to make an offer on it, her realtor called and said they’d already accepted another offer.

BIG bummer!

She was disappointed, but I know God has just the right house out there for her.

We looked at a few homes today, but none were promising.  I’ve got this repurposed coffee can herb garden all ready for her.

I’m notorious for killing indoor plants, so I hope she finds a home soon!

3-Step Repurposed Coffee Can Kitchen Herb Garden

Step #1 – Drill holes in the bottom of the can for drainage.

Step #2 – Add a few rocks in the bottom and fill the can with potting soil.

Step #3 – Plant the herbs.

Done!

I love such quick and easy projects.

I planted rosemary and basil in the can.  I would have preferred something other than the tall rosemary plant, but these were the only choices at Walmart on the day I went.
