I love red, white, and blue and of course our beautiful American flag – especially during summer. I upcycled a thrift store find into a Patriotic BBQ Wooden Tote.
As Americans, we celebrate the Fourth of July with family and friends, BBQs, and outdoor fun! 🍧🎆⚾
Here’s how my tote looked when I brought it home from the thrift store. Plain unfinished wood.
After two coats of Dixie Belle’s White Fluff chalk paint, here’s how it looked.
The new Homespun Flag transfer was perfect to make this a patriotic wooden BBQ tote!
Red, white and blue. Oh yeah!
I used the same blue chalk paste to paint the sides, then let it dry and distressed them.
The chalk paste colors I used were Candy Apple for the stripes and Midnight Sky for the stars and sides.
Potholders come in handy, so I used the Bon Appetit transfer knife and fork that I didn’t use on the Cutting Board Makeover and added them to red and white potholders from Dollar Tree. They also come in blue and white.
I added screws on the ends to hang a spatula and BBQ fork.
My son is in the Army Reserve, so I made it for him.
He loves barbecuing. We bought him a BBQ grill for his birthday, but in the apartment they lived in they weren’t allowed to use it.
They just moved into a new place, so now they can use it.
I hope this tote comes in handy!

When I first saw your top picture; I thought it was an upside down small child’s bench but works great as a BBQ tote
