How to Create Farmhouse Christmas Decor from an Old Drawer
After finishing the repurposed Christmas cabinet door, I moved on to another repurposing project.
This time, a drawer for Christmas.
I’ve been busy clearing out unused stuff, donating a lot and repurposing or upcycling what I can.
It came from one of these small sets of drawers that I was given six years ago. I added glass knobs to them and had one in my guest room.
The other one has just been sitting around taking up space, unused.

Here’s the side view, which will be the front of my project drawer now.
After removing the glass knob, I painted the drawer with Dixie Belle Evergreen Chalk Paint.
It was a little too bright, so I added a sloppy coat of Early American Wood Stain.
This is my favorite color of wood stain. Not too dark or light.
That deepened the color beautifully.
Next it was time to add the words that would really give it Christmas character.
For that I used part of the Chalk Couture Vintage Truck Winter Add On with White Chalk Paste.
There are so many pieces on this design that project possibilities are endless.
I used it on a chalkboard last year with the Vintage Truck.
Here’s how it turned out.
After it dried, I used spray sealer to protect it.
But the bottom edge had some drips, so I distressed that edge.
I’m so happy with how it turned out.
It’s available in my Etsy shop HERE.
If it doesn’t sell, I won’t be sad.
If it does, I’ll just make another! There are still five more drawers that I need to do something with.
Here are 25 more DIY Christmas decor project ideas using Chalk Couture stencils that don’t require painting an old drawer, and they can be made in minutes. Only 20 are shown below, but there are even more now that the Holiday Suite was released earlier this week. Be sure to check them all out HERE.
Vaya con Dios,

That came out great and I love the trick about using stain to tone down a too bright color. Genius!
I used to use dark wax David, but I like the stain better.
That looks very cute, Angie, with all your festive accessories. A nice little holiday vignette. Thanks for the inspiration. I know I have an old drawer hanging around in my garage!
I’d love to see what you would do with yours Naomi!
I love your drawer project, Angie…and the way you styled it!
Tanks Linda. I cant wait to use it for Christmas.
