Heartfelt THANKS!!!

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank each one of you (and there were quite a few) who contributed to the purchase of this watch for the soldier I told you about yesterday, and those who have sent up prayers on his behalf. Enough funds have been raised to pay for the watch in full and he should have it in his hands on Tuesday! {link to watch} I was so blessed to see how quickly you {Read More}

Give a Soldier the Time of Day

I would rarely do something like this, but here it is…As you all know, my oldest son joined the Army reserves and is at Basic Training right now.Last week when he called home, I asked him if there were any soldiers who weren’t receiving any mail and he said that there was one soldier who hadn’t gotten any and wasn’t likely to, because he’s not close to his adopted family. As an adoptive mom, and the mother of a young {Read More}

Antique Graphics Wednesday – 1898 Bunny Rabbit Illustration

I cannot believe that Easter is almost here – especially with several inches of snow on the ground.  But, since the calendar doesn’t lie, I thought I’d share this cute illustration from an 1898 Primer with you.  Do any of you raise rabbits? Or did you when you were a child?    My family did.  We had some that were pets and some that were food (yes…we ate bunnies – don’t hate me). Here’s the page with the original words, {Read More}

Graphically Speaking

Nothing thrills me more than to see graphics I share with you each week being used on your creative project, so today I just had to share with you how some darling silhouette images I shared HERE were used by Lyndsey Fagerlund Photography for a themed 1st birthday party. (Click on photos to view full post) Let me know if you use any graphics I’ve posted in a project, so I can brag on you! Blessings, Angie View Verse of {Read More}

Deconstructed and Reconstructed Lamp Shade

For several years, I’ve had this really pretty old metal lamp shade.  The original fabric covering it was trashed, but once I removed it, the base itself was a pretty, scalloped one. I used it in this photo I took of my sheet music dresser, but when we moved, I didn’t have any place to go with it, so it’s been sitting in my workshop ever since. While at a thrift store one day, I found a light attachment meant {Read More}

When Irish Eyes are Smiling

It’s St. Patrick’s day, so I had to share this antique sheet music page cover from the song, “When Irish Eyes are Smiling”. It’s pretty ragged and worn, but still beautiful. Blessings, Here’s something I think you’ll love! Irish Soda Bread Handled Pan and Recipe (affiliate link) View Verse of the Day

Behind the Farmhouse Kitchen Pantry Door

What’s behind my pantry door?  Until recently… nothing. Well, nothing but a wall. You may recall that when we remodeled our kitchen last year, I had a pantry door, but no pantry behind it.  In fact, the door wasn’t even attached to the hinges when I showed my kitchen reveal – it was just resting there.  The bathroom/laundry room on the other side of the wall had yet to be remodeled, and there was a shower stall where the pantry {Read More}

Antique Graphics Wednesday – Vintage Luggage Tags

I’m sick of the cold and am ready to pack my bags and head south until spring comes, but since that’s just a dream, instead I’ll share some vintage luggage tags with you today, so I can pretend I’m heading off to some warm, happy place. {CLICK ON IMAGES TO ENLARGE AND SAVE} I love the bright red logo on this Railway Express Agency tag. I removed the images from the tag on this one. This is the back side of {Read More}

Up in the Rafters

You just never know what you’ll find when you buy an old house.  Sometimes, it’s really nasty stuff; sometimes it’s something really wonderful.  We’ve been fortunate to find many interesting and useful things in this old house we bought.  My husband was taking things down from the rafters in our garage and found a bunch of these beautiful wood pieces, with ruler markeings and lots of pin hooks on them.  I’m not positive, but I think they are parts of {Read More}

Thursday’s Theme – {Canvas Art with Antique Pages}

We’re still putting the finishing touches on our laundry room, but my “theme” for the room is old laundry products and cotton.  It was a very “gray” day outside when I took these photos, so I’m sorry that this photo looks a little dreary. I put a coat of gray paint over the canvas.  Once it was dry, I sanded over the surface lightly so it would have a more aged look, then painted a thin coat of glue over {Read More}
