I refuse to be a victim of bad (dumb) luck. I don’t really believe in bad luck or people being jinxed,but if I did, I’d say I’m a candidate for both when it comes to mirrors and glass. In the last several months, I’ve managed to break 2 glass photo frame inserts,1 glass clock insert and 1 mirror – mainly by placing them in dumb placeswhere they were likely to get broken. I bought THE most beautiful antique dresser mirror from {Read More}

Antique Graphics Wednesday – Pretty Silhouette Frame
This is such a pretty frame with a woman’s silhouette at the top. It was the inside cover page from a 1913 The Modern Priscilla magazine. I’ve removed the background so you can layer this image over other images. (click on the image to enlarge) The magazine this image came from was generously shared by Audrey @ Audrey @ Timeless Treasures. Drop in and say “thanks” to her! Burning the Midnight Oil
Sorry for the blurry photo, but my little point and shoot doesn’t handle nighttime images with bright lights. This year, the field across from our house was planted in corn, and this farmer has some long hours ahead of him to finish the job. I just want to tip my hat to the farmers across America who are working late into the night, to bring in the harvest that feeds our nation. Sonday – Harvest Home
If you are a gardener, bringing in the last of your harvest for the season, you’ll appreciate this song. Even if you aren’t a gardener, I hope you’ll enjoy this song and appreciate the labor that someone else put forth so you could enjoy all the food that ends up on your table, and to God, above all, for the miracle of the cycle of seed to food. A Theme for Thursday {step stools and ladders}
Nothing says, “farmhouse” to me quite like an old stool or step ladder. After all, what farmer wouldn’t have one in his barn or workshop and what farm wife wouldn’t keep one close by her kitchen. You could sit a spell while peeling potatoes, pull one up to the table for a child, or use it to get out-of-reach items in your pantry. They have such a practical, no-nonsense charm and whenever I find them, they always come well-used and {Read More}
Antique Graphics Wednesday – Safety Pins
These 2 wonderful images of safety pins came from a 1911 magazine called, “The Modern Priscilla”. This was an advertisement for safety pins made by the Oakville Company in Waterbury, Conn. I think the open safety pin would look cute transferred onto a memo board and both of themwould be darling as enlarged art for a baby’s room.I have removed the backgrounds from both images so they can be layered over other images, using programs like Photoshop or Gimp. Both images were sent to me by Audrey {Read More}
