Chalkboard Christmas Cards & Tags {printables}

I’ve been in chalkboard mode for the last few weeks, and decided to create some paper versions of them, in the form of Christmas cards and gift tags. I haven’t perfected these yet, but I do have 2 cards and a set of gift tags ready as printables.  The PDF file link is available below.  For the tags, I punched a hole in the top and added a white, adhesive reinforcement label. It looks very retro with that added. {click {Read More}

He Means Business

I was really busy and skipped my usual auction last week,but on my way to my son’s basketball game, I did visit a thriftstore and found “Mr. Business”. Someone must have been quite the salesmanor businessman to bring home these 2 trophies.  They no longer bear the name inscription plaques, so I don’t knowwho they belonged to or when he received them, but I’m guessingfrom the hats on the trophies, these must be from the 50’s or 60’s.  I was glad {Read More}

On a total side note, I absolutely love this old metal “brick” siding thatis on one of our outbuildings.  If I didn’t use it so much as a photo backdrop,I think I’d try {Read More}

Antique Graphics Wednesday – Vintage Alphabet Flashcards

 I purchased a few sets of school flashcards from the 1960’s at a flea market this summer, with cute illlustrations on each letter card. The only problem with buying sets of flashcards is that you only receive one of each letter, but having these images, you can print whatever letters you need to form words. Flashcards like these make great banners, as well as photo props, so I hope you enjoy them. I left a little bit of a black border around {Read More}

Antique Graphics Wednesday – 1910 Advertistments

I love this 1910 advertisement for McCall’s Patterns and magazine. The stylish lady image looks so pretty and I really like the typography in the circles with the prices, too. Here’s a lighter version of the ad. And, here is just the price circle, because I think it would make an adorable tag to add to jars and boxes. The magazines these images came from were generously sent to me by Audrey @ Audrey @ Timeless Treasures. Blessings, AngieYou Can Often {Read More}

Antique Graphics Wednesday – 1905 Ladies Boot Advertisement

This wonderful image of a ladies’ boot came from a 1905 Ladies Home Journal magazine.  The background has been removed, so this image can be layered over other images using programs like  Photoshop and Gimp. Here is the original advertisement.  Not only are antique advertisements a fascinating glimpse of the past, but I find it interesting to see how long some magazines have managed to survive and stayed strong in the business, as Ladies Home Journal has. The magazines these {Read More}

Shop Talk

Isn’t it funny how some weeks you can go to yard sales, auctions and thrift stores and not find a thing, and other weeks you can load up your vehicle with treasures.  Two weeks ago, I went to the auction and they didn’t really have much of anything that interested me, and I came home with just 2 things,but last week, it was a goldmine of things I liked, a won quite a few of them.So, if you’ve ever gone to an auction {Read More}
