Buttons & Burlap Tool Tote

Warm weather means outdoor painting andI stockpiled wooden things all winter, so I’m gladto get back to walking around in paint-splattered shirts again. This little wooden tote was in that stash, and while useful,it wasn’t all that attractive to look at. A little white paint, a little distressing ,  a few vintage buttons & some burlap – now it’s useful, and nice for displays as well . I’ve got many more small things to be painted, and hope to start {Read More}

Riding Off Into the Sunset

Every so often, you see something that you know has a story of its own… and stories need to be told. I’m sure this gal has a story of her own. I wonder how many sights she’s seen, traveling dusty country roads or along city streets. I can only image.  Here’s my version of the end of her story. She’s traveled more roads than she can recall, and the miles have taken a toll on her. Her beauty has faded, {Read More}

Get the Look – Restoration Hardware Fedora Hat Mold Knock-Off

My knock-off project for today is so ridiculously easy, I gotta admit I’m kinda pleased with myself. I was thumbing through the Restoration Hardware catalog and came across this  Vintage Fedora Hat Mold.   I choked a little when I saw their price tag…$249. For that price, I’d want an actual antique, not a reproduction, but it is cool. I remembered that my oldest son bought the hat my youngest son is wearing in this photo, so for kicks,  I {Read More}

Stick a Label on It

In my other post today, I showed you 18 vintage beverage labels that you can print and use for your projects, so I thought I’d do a separate post to show you how I used a few of them. Just dig your bottles and jars out of the recycle bin, print the labels out, and attach them with glue or double-sided tape. Add some food coloring to water to fill the bottles. The raspberry crush is really a wine cooler. Several of {Read More}

To Market, To Market (and 2 Winners)

To market, to market, to buy a fat pig; Home again, home again, jiggety-gig. To market, to market, to buy a fat hog; Home again, home again, jiggety-jog. To market, to market, to buy a plum cake; Home again, home again, market is late. To market, to market, to buy a plum bun; Home again, home again, market is done. Forget paper and forget plastic.  You can even forget the eco-friendly reusable totes for carrying groceries. I could find excuses {Read More}

Junkin’ Journey

I shared with you yesterday about the little road trip my daughter  and I took over the weekend.  Technically, it’s about a 3-hour  drive, but it’s more like 5 or 6 with us, because I like to make sure I visit every restroom along our route and of course need to hit a few yard sales and antique stores, since I’ve already left the highway to find a bathroom. So, today I’ll show you some of the things I brought {Read More}

Sonday – Road Trip

My daughter and I hit the road on Friday mid-morning for what’s becoming our yearly trek to Greenville, IL where she attends Agape Fest every year. Agape Fest is a contemporary Christian music festival put on every year for the last 35 years, by the students of Greenville college in this little city of around 7,000 people. She spends 14 hours straight at the concert, while I hit every yard sale, thrift shop, and antique store I come across and enjoy {Read More}

Book….Shelf

Have you seen shelves made out of books on Pinterest? I have and loved the idea, so I created my own recently. It’s just the right size to  hold a few small pieces, andcreate a little vignette on. I’d like to make a few more variations of these shelves, because they are fun  & easy to make out of battered, old books and it doesn’t take long to do. I screwed a shelf bracket to the bottom of the largest {Read More}
