Get the Look Thursday – {Antique Farmhouse Bread Basket}

I got lucky creating this week’s  “Get the Look” project, because I wanted to get the look of this bread basket sold by Antique Farmhouse for $24, (which have sold out) but didn’t think I’d actually find a basket  with a similar style.   I had planned to just come up with a similar “Le Pain” tag and add it to a bread basket and call it close enough, but last week when I was making the rounds through thrift stores, I {Read More}

Sonday – {The Homeward Way}

Last night, my whole family was  home at dinnertime, which is very unusual  these days.  Usually, my oldest son is  working and my daughter and son are out with friends and my youngest son is home bemoaning the fact that  everyone else is out doing something except him. I miss the days when it was unusual for them not to all be home at dinnertime. I found this tattered old hymn page entitled, “The Homeward Way” in one of my {Read More}

I’ll Level With You

I’ve seen quite a few wall coat racks created from old carpenter’s levels on Etsy and Pinterest, and have wanted to make one for a long time, but the prices at auctions usually go really high on them.  Last week I finally found a wooden level that was reasonable priced, so the project finally got the green light. The nice thing about these is they are easy to hang. I usually put a few holes in my walls to get something {Read More}

It Pays to be a Hoarder & a Winner!

Being a hoarder can have its drawbacks, but there are times when it really pays off. But first…. Were you the winner of the $20 Leslie Janson gift certificate? You were if you had entry #52!! Sign of the Times

You all know I love old clocks, right? Well, I love lots of old things, but clocks and timepieces are at the top of my list of things I like to collect. When I was notified by Korrie of Red Hen Home that I won her giveaway of a sign created by her, I was thrilled!  Korrie creates not only wonderful signs, but does some of THE most impressive, creative and unique  furniture makeovers I’ve ever seen.   Korrie let me {Read More}

{Undressed}

This gal may be old, but she’s got beautiful bones, doesn’t she? Somewhere through the years, she got “undressed”, but I think that’s part of her charm.  I keep thinking about getting her reupholstered, she’s elegant just the way she is, even if not very practical as furniture.  If I had a bricks and mortar shop, I’d let her great everyone at the doorway.  I wonder what she looked like in her younger years.  I’m sure she was a real “looker”.  This {Read More}

Little Cottage Bucket

On my long list of things I love, somewhere near the top would be old galvanized buckets. Actually, I love galvanized anything, but I love that buckets can do more than sit and look pretty –  they are useful at the same time. This old bucket had plenty of rust inside, but was surprisingly free of rust on the outside, so I decided to give it a shabby cottage makeover. Here’s how it looked to start. See all that rust {Read More}
