An Evening Prayer

Is this hymn familiar to any of you?  I’ve never heard it before, but I really like the words, particularly the first stanza.   Blessings,

1800’s Fashions Summer Gowns

It used to be a normal thing for me to stay up nearly all night working on projects, but I think I may have crossed some midlife age line, telling me all-nighters are a thing of the past for me.  My oldest son and I spent the weekend in Arkansas, where we visited my middle son and they both attended a special college event, then we drove through the night to in order for him to get to his 8 am class {Read More}

Dancing around the Maypole

Since May is less than a week away, I wanted to share this sweet illustration of children dancing around a maypole that came from an early 1900’s children’s encyclopedia.  It instantly took me back to my school days.  The younger grades in my school always got to go out to the playground and wrap streamers around a pole (I think it may have been the tetherball pole).  I don’t think we danced – my recollection is that we really just sort of {Read More}

God be with You antique hymn page printable

This old hymn, “God be with You” is from one of my antique hymnals and would make a nice addition to a gift or used on a project for someone who is moving, going off to college, or leaving on a mission trip. I think it would work well printed for the cover of a card, or decoupaged into wood. Click HERE for the full size printable. I hope you enjoy it!

Vintage Advertisement Buttermilk Soap

 A few months ago, I purchased a lot of late 1800’s magazines, because they all had beautiful illustrations on the covers and were filled with wonderful images like this vintage advertisement for Buttermilk Toilet Soap.  This would be a perfect graphic to put on a glass jar to hold bath salts, cotton balls etc. (image transfer on glass tutorial here).  It would also be pretty as an iron on image on a towel.  Here’s the full advertisement the image came from. {Read More}

Antique Tin Can Advertisements

I was looking through photos and images that I’ve saved on my computer a few days ago, and discovered several antique advertisements that I’d edited, but never shared before. Old food advertisements make wonderful vintage style wall art to hang in the kitchen, or you can use them as an image transfer on flour sack towels. This one is a Heinz strawberry preserves tin can image.   This advertisement is for Dr. Price’s baking powder.     Here is the tin can image by itself. {Read More}

DIY Bird Silhouette Candle Holder

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter.  We drove to Arkansas to visit one of my sons at college.  It was a brief trip, but it’s always nice to see him, plus he was running out of meals tickets to use in the college cafeteria, so I loaded him up with enough food to hold him over until school gets out. Last week I shared this bird silhouette music page on Facebook, and one of my followers requested that I come up {Read More}

DIY Clay Tags with Graphics

 I’ve been slightly obsessed with image transfers lately.  I’ve done transfers on wood, canvas, and glass, but there’s another medium I thought I try – clay.  I just finished painting a basket to hold hand towels in my bathroom, and thought a clay tag would dress it up a bit.

Antique Book Plate Bird Prints

 One of my favorite things about spring is listening to all the birds.  They seem as happy for warmer temperatures as I am. This set of beautiful bird prints both came from a 1920’s bird book, and shows two types of flycatchers resting on flowering tree branches. These are perfect as instant Spring art – just print and frame, or add them to a journal or greeting card.     There are many more bird images available from the same {Read More}
