One of my favorite projects are repurposed headboards, because they are so easy to come by inexpensively at thrift stores, yard sales, and auctions, so if you’ve ever wonded how to repurpose a cheap or free headboard, I’ve got lots of great ideas for you.
There are so many great ways to repurpose them into something useful. Some require only basic skills, and some more advanced wood-working abilities, but you’r sure to find one you’ll love!
Let’s take a look at…
How to repurpose Headboards
Signs are some of the easiest projects you can make with headboards.
My most popular sign made out of a headboard is this Chalkboard Welcome Sign.
I made this Farmer’s Market Sign a few years ago and old it in my online shop.
Here’s a beautiful Amazing Grace Sign by My Repurposed Life.
I love the shape and mixture of fonts on this Bed and Breakfast Sign by Confessions of a Serial DIY’er.
And then there are Coat Racks made out of headboards:
I made a bunch of Headboard Coat Racks a few years ago.
This one was an antique headboard turned coat rack, but I made a coat rack from the foot board also.
Some of them served a dual purpose with chalkboards on them.
This Headboard Coat Rack by My Repurposed Life has little shelves on it too.
These Headboard Coat Rack with Chalkboards by Beyond the Picket Fence are just beautiful, aren’t they?
I turned this headboard into a fun and funky coat rack for my entryway. See how I did it HERE.
Benches are another poplar headboard project.
I’ve never made one myself, but these posts by some of my blogger friends will show you how to repurpose a headboard into one.
This Headboard Bench by My Repurposed Life is very elegant.
And this White Porch Bench by Hunt and Host is gorgeous.
This Dining Table Bench by Interior Frugalista matches her kitchen chairs and has a French graphic on it.
And this Yellow Headboard Bench by Beyond the Picket Fence is a stunner as well.
And a few other things made out of headboards…
In this post, I show 4 different projects made from one set of bed posts.
Headboards into Flower Planters– Beyond the Picket Fence.
Here’s a Colorful Flower Planter by Repurposed Life.
Headboard Wall Shelf – My Repurposed Life.
This Headboard Photo Display by My Repurposed Life is such a great idea!
Here’s a Chalkboard Sign by My Salvaged Treasures that would be great for pointing people to your yard sale or family get-together!
Kids and adults would have fun writing notes and doodling on this Headboard Message Center by Homeroad.
Here’s a great idea I haven’t seen before! A Faux Fireplace from a Headboard by Interior Frugalista.
So, the next time you find a cheap headboard at a yard sale or thrift store, you’ll know how to repurpose them into something inexpensive and amazing for your home, right?!
