Fresh Herbs Kitchen Ideas
Hey, everyone! I’m back with a new Dollar Tree project. This time it’s a Dollar Tree plates upcycle.
With a couple of dollars, I came up with these DIY fresh herbs kitchen ideas.
Dollar Tree has plates in several colors. The ones I purchased were green, of course!
They could also be used to decorate a spring or summer table with a bell jar cloche over them and greenery or baby’s breath tucked around them.
SHOPPING LIST FOR Fresh Herbs Kitchen Ideas:
- Dollar Tree plates
- Fresh Herbs transfer
- White Chalk Paste
- Fuzzing cloth or terrycloth towel
- Squeegee
Instructions:
- Fuzz each transfer at least four times. They will stick to the plates like nobody’s business if you don’t!
- Position transfer on the top of the plate.
- Apply chalk paste and remove the transfer right away by pulling straight up. This prevents the transfer from curling.
- Set the plate aside to dry.
- Repeat the process with as many plates as you want to do.
Now it’s ready to display or hang!
I used several Chalk Couture Fresh Herbs transfers. The Simon and Garfunkel song “Scarborough Fair” (Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme) kept going through my head, so I made all four.
Since these plates can’t be used for food now, I’m displaying them on the chalkboard wall in my entryway.
I had no sooner finished the first plate when my son’s cat knocked it over and broke it.
Good thing I bought an extra!
Each plate takes less than a minute to do.
I made several more fresh herbs kitchen projects too, like a set of four box frames with a different herb on the front and back in alternating colors.
This set is available in my Etsy shop HERE.
The next project was the easiest one. I used just the “fresh herbs” words with the dotted circle around it on a Magnetic Chalkboard to hold recipe cards. Took abut 2 minutes to make. Almost instant cuteness! It has hangers on the back.
The final project is my favorite!
This was a customer request, so it’s already sold. But if someone else wants one, I can make another! 🙂
PIN IT!

Thanks Laura!
Love the plates!!!! And have you seen the japanese repairing with gold? I hope you haven’t thrown away the broken plate!
“Kintsukuroi (金繕い, “golden repair”), is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum, a method similar to the maki-e technique.”
I did this once, just used regular glue and sprinkled it with gold dust. It looked amazing!
I did throw it out Zefi.
I love these. great job!
Thanks so much Jessica!
