Antique Graphics Wednesday – Bird and Birdcage

Today I’ve got a lovely silhouette of a bird and birdcage from and antique children’s music book. I’ve removed all the background, so you can layer the image over other images using programs like Picmonkey or Photoshop. Here, I’ve layered it over an early 1900’s German song book page.  Here’s the image, without any background.If you save it as a JPEG file, it willshow up with a white background. Stop by tomorrow for more imagesfrom this book.  If you like {Read More}

Antique Graphics Wednesday – 3 Chicken Images

Today’s antique graphics should give you something to squawk about! All 3 of these images came from an antique children’s school book. I really love this one that was the top border of a page.  The background has been removed, so you can layer it over other images using Picmonkey, Photoshop or Gimp. These chickens look like they’re having a serious discussion! I like the inquisitive look on this chicken, and the sweet thatched-roof cottage in this image. Here are {Read More}

Pass It On to the Next Generation

I had a ridiculously busy day today,full of 5 basketball games and 1 son taking the ACT,so I didn’t finish any new projects, but I did wantto share with you this absolutely charmingcover from a 1914 “The Modern Priscilla” magazine.This illustration shows, what I assume tobe, a grandmother teaching her granddaughter how to tat (or is it tatt?). I played around a little with the image with Picmonkey, so here’s an altered version of the image. I fondly remember my {Read More}

Today I’ll be sharing some pages from  an early 1900’s school primer. This pretty silhouette was part of an advertisement for fine fragrances by the Roger & Gallet Company.  I found it in a 1926 magazine. I think it would make pretty gift tags. Recently, I shared some chalkboard inspired gift tags and cards that I created and Megan @ Lilacs and Lavender created some really lovely versions of her own using my chalkboard background.  Be sure to see them all. Thursday’s Theme {A Chair Affair}

I love old wooden folding chairs. They always sell well in my shop, so I never pass them up when I find them at a reasonable price. Usually, I find just one or two at a time, but a few weeks ago, I got 36 antique wooden folding chairs at an auction – enough for seating at a small reception! They all appear to have comefrom one business – which according to the backof some of the chairs was a funeral {Read More}
