I realized last week, that I had taken very few outdoor photographs, and knowing nice weather won’t last forever, I decided to head outdoors and get some shots at pretty places nearby. Just down the gravel road from my house, sits an old barn. I used it as a backdrop in my son’s senior photos.
It is falling apart, and isn’t used anymore, although cows are fed in troughs nearby it. t is incredibly peaceful there. It’s surrounded by fields of corn and soybeans, and unless a car drives down the gravel road, the only sounds you hear are birds and crickets chirping. I’d love to just spend the day there, sitting in a lawn chair and reading a good book.
Next week, I’ll be showing you a project I’m making with this photo, and you are welcome to print it for your own use as well (non-commercial only, please).

I also took some up close shots of the wood and stone walls, so they can be used as backgrounds that other images could be digitally layered on.

I love old buildings. My husband and I have a bad habit of stopping and trespassing. some day we may be running from and old farmer with a shotgun, or needing bail money. lol

LOL – I’m the same way! Fortunately, this old barn belongs to my mailman’s dad, and he knows I occasionally go take photos by it, so I don’t think I’ll get shot!
Beautiful images for backgrounds. Thanks Angie. Anxious to see what you did with your son’s photo.
Blessings,

Audrey – I didn’t do anything with my son’s photo (other than use it for graduation announcements last year, but I DID do something with the photo of just the barn! :o)
Great barn, looks perfect as a backdrop for your handsome son’s photo!
Thank you so much for sharing. I absolutely love barns. I think I would like to add this image to a canvas.
Thank you for sharing your ideas, project how to’s and your beautiful photography! You are a true inspiration!
I love old deserted farms, they make me wonder the stories they could tell. I was 17 when I bought my first painting, it was an old barn. My mother thought I had lost it, but I loved that barn. I unfortunately got ruined in a move, but I never lost my love of barns. This is a gorgeous gorgeous blog post. Thanks for sharing.
