I think my family is under the impression that I walk around with a grocery list and pen in my pocket at all times. They are wrong. If I had a dollar for every time someone tells me we need milk, or we’re almost out of toilet paper, or we need something it would never occur to me we need, like popcorn seasoning … I could afford to hire a personal shopper. 🙂

Wagon Wheel Farmhouse Christmas Candle Chandelier
I’ve got an upcycled wagon wheel project to show you today. But first can I whine a little? Yesterday was one of those no good, very bad, everything-seemed-to-go-wrong days. It started out great. The sun was shining, the weather was warm, and I woke up raring to get to work … … and then I slammed my finger in a door.
Weekending | Room Reset and a Rusty Pitchfork
This week has been a Longgggg one. Seriously. My teenage son got his first real job, which is a huge “hip hurray,” but he doesn’t have his driver’s license yet. So you know what that means?
Table Setting for Fall in Non-Traditional Colors
Normally I love the earthy brown, orange, and yellow colors of fall, but this year I decided to break away from traditional fall colors, with a lighter fall farmhouse table setting. Before my mother-in-law passed away earlier this year, she and my father-in-law had started going to estate sales. She knew that I love old things and bought me a vintage tablecloth at one sale. I’ll never forget when she called to tell me she was sending it to me. She said she {Read More}

Eggs in a Basket and a New Tiered Stand
I know we aren’t supposed to put all of our eggs in one basket, but I threw caution to the wind and did it. First off, we’re almost out of eggs. 🙂 But the real reason is I found the cutest little basket at the thrift store. It was just the right size to hold my less than dozen eggs. Did I need a cute little basket? No I didn’t, but the price was right, it was sturdy, and the patina was calling {Read More}
Potting Bench from Old Work Table Reveal
Recently I asked for your ideas for the old work table we found in our barn. Several of you suggested turning it into a potting bench, and my husband and I thought that sounded like a great idea, given it’s short height. Here’s how it started out.
Beauty Salon Makeover for an Old Oil Heater
When I was a little girl, I loved going with my mom to the beauty salon. I remember the mint green walls in the salon. I remember the long row of hooded hair dryers. And I remember watching in fascination as the beautician teased mom’s hair into a beehive. And I distinctly remember the smell of all the Aqua Net required to keep the beehive in place. My mom could rock a beehive! It’s amazing how you can walk into {Read More}
When There’s Trouble in the Chicken Coop
A few days ago, I was working in my she – shed, and I heard a loud squawking coming from the chicken coop. If you aren’t a chicken owner, let me give you a crash course in Chickenese. Of course, roosters crow, and they’ll do it any time of the day. From a distance, crowing sounds quaint. When it’s outside your bedroom window, you start planning a chicken dinner. We don’t have any roosters, because we don’t plan to hatch eggs. {Read More}
