{Warning: Some families are very, very careful about only using nice words with each other…mine is not. Proceed at your own risk. :0} It started out as a good plan. “Let’s take our Christmas card photos today, beloved family,” said Mom. Things went downhill from there. You’d think my family would appreciate doing this in September, instead of the frigid November temperatures they endured last year. But, I guess 85 degrees and dripping humid isn’t much better than 15 degrees, {Read More}
Doing the Happy Dance
We all know the wonderful feeling we get when our home is featured by another blog. What’s even better though, is when you get to share that honor with your husband. My husband did SO much tearing down, building and rebuilding, wiring and plumbing, and then he stepped aside and let me do what I love to do…decorate! He gave me the “canvas” on which I could “paint” to my heart’s content. I tell him every single time another {Read More}
The Thing about Beagles
Remember this adorable old pooch that sat next to my happy toolbox? Don’t let that sweet old lady face fool you. The thing about beagles (or at least our beagle), is she loves trash as much as I love meat and potatoes, and that’s a lot of lovin’. Ever since she was a little pup, she’s been a trash raider. Our 2 trash cans were full, so I put a bag of trash on top of the trash can. The {Read More}
The Happiest Little Toolbox in Town
I bought this old metal toolbox at the auction months ago and usually sell them, but I didn’t realize this one was missing part of the latch on one side, so I decided to keep it and plant some fall mums inside. It wasn’t until I had the flowers planted and stepped back to look, that I realized it’s smiling! It must have had a lock dangling from the center latch at one time, which wore away the paint, creating {Read More}
Repurposed Book Cover Chalkboards
I recently got a box full of books and in it were 2 books with covers I loved. One has a fall print and the other has a winter print, so they seemed perfect to turn in to little seasonal chalkboards. I used painter’s tape to block off the area I didn’t want painted, and added a few coats of chalkboard paint. I used my blow dryer to speed up the drying between coats of paint. I love projects that take {Read More}
What a Pleasure
I still get really giddy (just ask my family – I’m constantly calling them over to my computer to see) whenever one of my posts has been featured on another blog, so I was downright tickled pink when Brenda @ Cozy Little House wrote an absolutely glowing post about my blog and home for her Blogger Spotlight series. If you haven’t visited her blog before, you are in for a treat. (click on image to visit) I’m always doing a {Read More}
Antique Graphics Wednesday – Back to School {ABC Song}
Staying with the back-to-school theme today, here’s another old image nearly everyone will relate to… the ABC song. I think this would be adorable as the background for a back to school photo of a small child. This song came from a 1908 song book called, American School Songs. Here’s the cover. Drop me a line if you use any graphics I’ve posted and I’ll share your talent with everyone too! Check out the rest of the images I’ve posted in {Read More}
Going Nuts in the Windy City
Some people belong in the big city. Some people do not. I belong in the latter group. This is the look of a woman whose nerves were on overload. My family took a day trip to Chicago. We thought St. Louis traffic was bad, but St. Louis traffic is like a Sunday drive compared to Chicago traffic. To make matters worse, we had to take 2 vehicles, with half the family in one car and the other half in the {Read More}
Inspiration
Hmmm…this gives me an idea. Angie Due to unethical websites stealing content, I can no longer provide a full RSS feed. I work too hard to produce original and inspiring content to have it stolen by others. Thank you for your understanding – I appreciate each one of you that take time out of your day to visit Knick of Time!!
Lavender
Don’t you wish that computer monitors had scratch and sniff capabilities? Terry @ Forever Decorating is my “neighbor” (we live about 15 minutes from each other) and she graciously gave me the last cutting from her beautiful lavender bush. My kitchen smells wonderful with it sitting by my sink. Thanks Terry! Pop over to see the latest projects she has going on at her house. When she says “forever decorating”…she’s not kidding. I was just at her house last month and she’s {Read More}
