I’m back home from vacation, but am a little buried under luggage and “stuff” I brought home. I love going on trips, but always feel like a need a week of at-home vacation to recuperate from traveling. Next week, I’ll be back in full swing, but I invited Larissa @ Prodigal Pieces to share with you how she made her hand-painted “Farmer’s Market” sign. She linked it up at last week’s Knick of Time Tuesday party, and I thought it {Read More}

Industrial Home Decor Project Ideas
I didn’t miss cooking. I didn’t miss cleaning, and taking a break from writing blog posts did me good. But, the one thing I did miss while on vacation, was creating new projects. Making things just makes me happy, so going a week and a half without making something was a stretch for me. I did start working on a crochet project (which may or may not ever get finished, because I didn’t use a pattern and it’s turning out {Read More}

Iced In, Cleaning, a Christmas Play and a Birthday
I’m sure there are many of you who have your shopping done, and the gifts are wrapped, and the cookies are baked and your homes are clean, and I really wish I could say I was one of you, but I’m working on it! My youngest son had 2 basketball games and a Christmas play with our homeschool group last week, which made for a hectic, but fun week. I had a lot of projects to finish up, but on {Read More}
On the Workbench, In the Shop and Wild Turkeys
Most of what I buy at auctions are “junk” by most people’s standards. I specifically look for broken things that others don’t see value in, because those are the pieces I love to recreate with, but bringing home a Jeep full of “junk” and bringing it into my kitchen and living room has made living in our home unpleasant. We have to walk through a maze of metal and wood and “stuff”, combined with paint and hammers and boxes and {Read More}

Antique Graphics Wednesday – 1910 Roach Killer Advertisement
Here’s a creepy crawly illustration from a roach killer advertisement from a 1910 “The Housekeeper” magazine. It’s creepy enough for some Halloween projects. This is the complete advertisement, in the natural color tone. I have no idea what “electric” paste was, but if I could sympathize with a roach, (and I can’t) I’d feel a little sorry for this guy who is loosing limbs as he walks away from the stuff. This interesting advertisement was sent to me by Audrey {Read More}
Take the Scenic Route – Antique Automobile Window Sign
I love it when I stumble across something unique at a yard sale or flea market, that I know I’m unlikely to come across again. A few weeks ago, I got an antique car windshield at a yard sale and that was definitely the first time I’d ever found one of those. The man selling it had several of them, but the rest had broken pieces off the glass, so I only purchased this one. I debated a few different {Read More}
Moving Right Along…
I’m sure I’ve mentioned before that I’m an obsessive “doer”. I always have several projects I’m working on at a time, and many more on the back burner, waiting to start on. My husband and I spent the winter months remodeling our laundry room and men’s bathroom, and I completed many other projects for my home and shop, and we have done some work remodeling our bedroom, but now that the weather is nice, I tormented asked my husband if {Read More}
Homemade Chalk Style Paint Pie Safe
Last year we bought an old RV. It needs some work to get it running well, but we hope to do a little traveling in it. I’m also hoping to make it look pretty – as if I need another remodeling project. Inside the RV was this little pine cabinet. It was cute, but bland. It reminds me of a pie safe. I whipped up a batch of homemade chalk style paint. I used turquoise on the outside and bright {Read More}
