Little Child’s Chair

A few weeks ago, when I went to Arkansas to bring my college son home for Christmas break, we stopped at an antique store along the way, and I found this little child’s chair sitting outside the shop.

Vintage School Desk Makeover

I’ve been given several old school desks over the years, from people whose kids had outgrown them.  I often repurpose parts of them, like the antique alphabet school page sign I made from the top of another desk, but this one didn’t have any parts that were easily removable, so it would get a makeover instead. All in all, it was in decent condition, but a child had scratched some words into the top of the desk, and the “greige” {Read More}

Back in Black – My Front Door and a Gossip Bench

Recently, I showed you the makeover I gave the outside of my front door (seen here), and I finally got around to doing the inside of it this week, but the red color I choose for the outside was not going to work for the inside of the door.  Do people usually have 2-color doors?  I don’t know if that’s the norm, but I have one now!  After painting the front side, I learned a few things.  First of all, {Read More}

Antique Dressing Table

Just before Christmas isn’t the best time to splurge on yourself, but I did.  It was totally unplanned, and I didn’t even know I wanted it until I saw it, but once I saw it, I couldn’t make myself walk away.  I had gone into our local thrift store, specifically looking for wood photo frames,because I had a few Milk & Cream Co. sign orders to make for customers. And there it was.  I’m pretty sure I heard it call {Read More}

British Inspired Teen Bedroom Makeover

Whenever I’m giving a room a makeover, I’m always flying by the seat of my pants, with only a general idea of the look I’m going for.  I figure it out as I go, and as I root through my house and workshop to see what I have to work with, but this time it was a doozy. You see, a few weeks ago, I decided to give our bedroom a makeover.  We haven’t done a single thing to it, since {Read More}

I’m a Vintage Rulers Hoarder

I know there’s a name for people who stockpile things they don’t use, and I guess I’m one of them, because I have accumulated a stockpile of vintage rulers and yardsticks, but I almost never actually use them.   They’ve gotten a bit pricey in the last few years, so I kept waiting for the absolute perfect project to use them on.  I finally realized if I wait much longer, they their popularity as a crafting trend may end, and {Read More}
