2014 was another busy year for changes around our house, and I haven’t even shared them all on the blog yet. The biggest project we completed was our old shed that we converted into a guest room/photo studio, which then became a bedroom for our oldest son when he switched from an out-of-state college, to our local collage. He’ll graduate from college in the spring, and once he gets his own apartment, it will revert back to a guest room/photo studio {Read More}

Repurposed Drawers and Crates for Craft Supplies
Does anyone else have a hard time getting back into the swing of things after Christmas? I feel like until I get all the decorations and the tree taken down, it’s hard to do much else, but I did work on a little organizational project today. When we “remodeled” one wall in the kitchen to install an oven range hood (seen here), and removed the little crates that held my spices, I wanted to find a new use for them. {Read More}

Farmhouse Kitchen Wall Update
I thought I’d change gears this week, from Christmas projects, to the changes we made to the wall behind our stove in our farmhouse kitchen. I really hadn’t intended to overhaul the look of this wall, but one project leads to another…and often another, and that was definitely the case with my kitchen wall, as you’ll see. It all started when we got a new oven range hood from Westside Wholesale. Obviously, it’s a modern appliance, so once we got it installed, the {Read More}

Oven Range Hood from a Reclaimed Antique Door
It’s been a few years since we remodeled our farmhouse kitchen (see remodel reveal here), and I still love it as much as the day it was finished, but there are a few things I’d do differently now, after having lived with it for a few years. For instance, we made open shelves from wood salvaged from an old table. I love those shelves in the kitchen, but we put one above our stove, and that was a big mistake. {Read More}
How to Get the Look of Antique Wooden Embellishments
I have a thing for antique bed headboards and footboards, and have been fortunate to get quite a few of them at auctions at prices that blew me away. Unfortunately, none of them were the right size for my bed, and they are hard to sell online, because the shipping often costs more than what I charge for them. This was an antique headboard that I turned into a coat rack (more about it here). Not only did it have a {Read More}
