Remember when there were lots of blogs offering giveaways for the old style enamel signs by Ramsign? Did win one? Drat…me neither! I even hosted a giveaway for Ramsign, but never did win any that I entered. If you search eBay and Etsy, there are also some antique enamel signs available. Can you afford them? Drat…me either! Long story short, I want an “antique enamel” sign, And have had it in my head to figure out a way to make one myself. It took me {Read More}
Rise and Shine
I am SOOO not a morning person. Don’t get me wrong, I love mornings. I love the fresh air, the dew on the grass, and early morning sun is so gorgeous. The only thing I don’t like about morning, is how early it comes. I’m at my most productive self in the middle of the night. Every good idea I’ve ever had came in the middle of the night. That becomes a problem when you need to get up early {Read More}
Time Well Spent
Time is “well spent” for the clock and watch faces I’ve used, to create this sign, but I think it is also serves as a gentle reminder to spend our time wisely. I love, the crackled look of the varnish on this old wood. I used CeCe Caldwell chalk paint, in the colors Vermont Slate and Johnston Daffodil. I lightly sanded the whole sign and did it a little heavier around some of the edges. The sign was purchased by {Read More}
Milk & Cream Sign with CeCe Caldwell Paint
Last month when I celebrated my one year blog anniversary, I hosted a giveaway for my blogger friend, Shelly @ Shizzle Design, who is a retailer for CeCe Caldwell paint. Everybody and their mother wanted to try that paint and entered the giveaway. The problem with hosting giveaways, is you can’t enter yourself, so I was a little envious of the winner. Shelly must have been reading my thoughts because she recently asked me if I’d like to try some to {Read More}
{Book Signing}
Some people like to get their books signed,but I’d rather have a book sign. Remember my experiment a few days ago, where I was trying to recreate the look of an antique porch post column? Here’s the project I wanted it for. There was no visible divider along the wall between our kitchen and our living room and because I wallpapered the living room in antique Bible pages and the kitchen got tongue and groove wood added to the walls, {Read More}
Dairy Sign Shelf – Milkin’ It for All it’s Worth
Last year I created this sign our of wood salvaged from a broken dresser. The dresser cost me a whoppin’ $5 and I sold all the drawers that were in it, but I was left with the pretty piece of wood from the bottom of the dresser, which was perfect for creating a sign. It’s been sitting in a corner, unhung, ever since we moved into our new house last fall, because I didn’t want to hang any kitchen decor {Read More}
Livery Sign & Today’s Pickins’
I’ve got quite a stockpile of old wood right now, which are all perfect for creating “antique” signs on. I brought home 2 sections of super old wood this weekend that were just begging to become signs. I decided to create a Livery & Farrier sign on the smaller of the 2 pieces. This old horseshoe was the inspiration for this sign. I’ve had it for some time and was just waiting for the right piece of wood to come along to use it {Read More}
A Dairy Sign
I came across a dresser in a thrift store that was broken and had a $5 price tag. The drawers were lovely, with 8 great handles on them, so I was getting my money’s worth just in handles. This piece was at the bottom of the dresser. Really pretty scalloped shape. I painted it Delicate White. I knew I wanted to turn it into a sign,but I kid you not,I spent the next 2 hours trying to decide what to put on {Read More}
