I finished painting the kitchen chairs yesterday. The two on the each end are the youngest ones, which were part of the set from our previous kitchen table. The rest of the chairs all came from auctions, thrift stores, or yard sales. All the chairs were painted and distressed for a timeworn look, except one. Can you guess which one – [my shift key isn’t working, so pretend there’s a question mark there.] I wish I could carry this pretty {Read More}

Antique Graphics Wednesday – Back to School {Alphabet Metal File Tabs}
Since it’s back to school time, I thought I’d share some great images featuring the alphabet. I bought these old metal tabs at an antique store. They previously were used inside of filing cabinets to separate files by letter. Here is the whole alphabet as individual letters. I think there are at least 101 things you could do with these, so I hope you do something fun with them! If you are wondering where #13 went, the letters on it {Read More}
I’m Not Falling For It
I love fall. I love the brisk air, I love the changing leaves, I love pumpkins, and flannel shirts.I love apple cider, apple crisp and caramel apples, BUT… (you heard that “but” coming, didn’t you?) I’m not FALLing for it this year. I’m simply not ready for fall. We spent our whole summer remodeling the kitchen and I really wanted at least one month between the completion of that project and back-to-school time. We are a homeschool family, so fall days {Read More}
Passing On…
On our way to Chicago last week, we stopped along the way at the small townwhere my father was born. Although the farmhousehe lived in is long gone, my grandparents and several other relativesare buried there in a quiet, country cemetery, surrounded by corn and soybeanfields and a few scattered farmhouses. We lived in NM for over 20 years before we returned to the Midwest 7 years ago,so I hadn’t visited this cemetery for many years and had no ideawhere to {Read More}
Antique Graphics Wednesday – 1912 Debutantes – Cashmere Bouquet Soap
Both of these images of “debutantes” are advertisments from a 1912 Etude magazine. I love this one for Cashmere soap. They made it sound like it was a by invitation only, special privilege to use this soap. To see the rest of the images I’ve posted in previous weeks, click on the “Antique Graphics to Print” tab, located above. Blessings, Angie I’ll be sharing at these parties this week: Monday – Manic Monday**Mod Mix Monday Tuesday – Knick of Time Tuesday**Cowgirl Up Wednesday – White {Read More}
A Few Little Projects with Buttons & Paint
I love the look of old buttons in a jar, but you really can’t appreciate how pretty the individual buttons are that way, so last week I decided to tinker around and make some projects with some of them. I showed you my button heart ornament HERE, and I made this little project as well. Very little supplies or time was needed. I just used 1 page from an antique magazine, a handful of old buttons, a photo mat, a thin board {Read More}
Get the Look – Terrain Numbered Vase
I’ll be honest…today’s “Get the Look” project was a failure. I spotted this numbered vase from Terrain a few months ago when they had them on sale for $19 and thought it was cute and looked like a fairly east project to duplicate. I thought it was going to be SO easy, because while lookingfor something in our garage, I found this numbered glass beaker and realized all I had to do was paint itwhite, then paint the lines and numbers {Read More}
Antique Graphics Wednesday – 1912 Violins and Victrola Advertisements
All of the images I’m sharing come from some 1912 and 1915 Etude magazines, which was a magazine for singers and musicians. I love this image showing a row of violins. Here’s the entire ad it came from. Here’s just the graphic of the violin. I’ve always love the advertisements for the Victrola. The little dog logo is so cute. I’ve posted a different image of this dog from another Etude magazine HERE. Check out the rest of the images {Read More}
Antique Graphics Wednesday – Cottage & Floral Borders and Frames
Summer’s almost over, but I love this border that came from an early 1900’s Etude magazine. The back pages of the magazines had an advertising section with ads aimed at singers and musicians. This cute border was for the section of summer school advertisements. Here it is with the words removed, so you can add your own text. This beautiful floral frame was originally the title page of a 1906 book called, “Benjamin Franklin; His Life”. I think this would {Read More}
Linens on the Line
What could be prettier than delicate, white linens hangingon a clothesline, as the wind softly blows and the sunlight filters through them? I’ve done plenty of drying on a clothesline for my family,but rarely is the sight so pretty. Ours usually consists of mismatched towels,underwear, and t-shirts. Right now, I don’t even have a clothesline. My husband took it down to put a pool in its place. But still, the *idea* of white linens on the linecreates a beautiful mental picture, right? {Read More}
