I break glass. About 50% of the time it’s intentional – like when I need to remove glass panes from old windows. The other 50% of the time – it’s because I’m a total klutz. In my house, I’m famous (can you be famous in your own house?), for accidentally breaking glass. It would be funny, if it wasn’t so pathetic how often it happens. My workshop overfloweth with junk, so I have an old chair hanging by 1 large {Read More}
French Script Sewing Bench Makeover & Flying Dust
Yesterday, I shared with you an 1872 French letter written in a lovely script. Today, I’m going to share what I did with the PNG version of this letter. During the summer, I hit a great yard sale that had lots of my favorite kinds of finds, which included an old sewing machine in a stand and included this little bench seat. The seat lifts off the chair and it was filled with sewing notions – a bonus! It has {Read More}
1872 French Document with Spanish Postage Seal
I’m a little ga-ga over the image I have to share with you today. I’m really not a Francophile. I do like most things French, and love their sense of style, but it’s a little fancier than my own style tends to be. With that said, I think the French language – both verbal and written is beautiful (too bad I was so awful at it in high school), so I was thrilled to get this amazing 141 year old {Read More}

Wishing I Had a Brick and Mortar Shop
There are days I really wish I had my own brick and mortar shop and not just an online shop – not so much because I want to run it and be bound to a shop’s hours, but because I want to decorate it and “set up shop”. I brought home this big, beastly beauty from my pastor’s yard sale last week. I think it would be perfect sitting on top of my antique shop counter (that is still sitting {Read More}

Creepy Halloween Skeleton Graphics Revisited
Since Halloween will soon be here, I thought I’d revisit some graphics I shared in early 2012. They all come from an 1893 Gray’s Anatomy book I found in a thrift store. I don’t do a lot of Halloween decorating, because we live in the country and get very few trick or treaters, and we aren’t home anyway, but I think these images could be used for some fun, but kinda creepy projects. Let me know if you create something {Read More}
White Painted Books {Prettying Up Ugly Old Books}
I love antique books, but not all antique books are equal. Generally, I look for books that have unique covers and illustrations or pretty text. I also look for books with pages that show their age – especially those whose edges have started to slightly “brown”. Some books have totally browned pages, and those are pretty, but generally are extremely brittle and fragile. Unfortunately, some really old books have none of those redeeming qualities and the content isn’t really something {Read More}
Well-Aged Finds
On the way home from church last Sunday, I spotted an “Estate Sale” sign. Those are 2 words that send my heartbeat thumping fast. I could barely wait for my daughter to stop the car to jump out. It was the final day of the sale and everything was half-price. The original prices were pretty high, but at half-price they were more reasonable. I can’t believe this adorable wash basin hadn’t sold yet and nearly squealed out loud. Whenever I {Read More}
