My laundry room is finally finished. We’ve never had a dedicated laundry room in any of our homes – just laundry closets, so it seems like a luxury to me to have a real laundry room. I wanted a very simple, old-fashioned farmhouse look for this room, and love it so much now, I’m tempted to make room for a chair, so I can just sit in there an enjoy it. It started out as a combination laundry room/bathroom, but {Read More}

Heartfelt THANKS!!!
From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank each one of you (and there were quite a few) who contributed to the purchase of this watch for the soldier I told you about yesterday, and those who have sent up prayers on his behalf. Enough funds have been raised to pay for the watch in full and he should have it in his hands on Tuesday! {link to watch} I was so blessed to see how quickly you {Read More}
Chalkboard Windows & Frames
After creating signs on several of my antique windows, I switched gears this week and turned some that had broken panes into chalkboards. I bought a big sheet of luan at Lowes (in the plywood section of the store) and had them cut pieces to the sizes I needed for several windows (less than $14 for the sheet, which is enough to do 3-4 windows, with lots of smaller pieces to use on other projects). I’m a horrible chalkboard artist, {Read More}
Give a Soldier the Time of Day
I would rarely do something like this, but here it is…As you all know, my oldest son joined the Army reserves and is at Basic Training right now.Last week when he called home, I asked him if there were any soldiers who weren’t receiving any mail and he said that there was one soldier who hadn’t gotten any and wasn’t likely to, because he’s not close to his adopted family. As an adoptive mom, and the mother of a young {Read More}
DIY Chalk Style Paint
I’m sure many of you have tried making your own chalk-style paint, but I’ve been doing a little experimenting with some and found a “recipe” that I’m really happy with. There are several things I love about chalk-style paint, but the main things are the matte finish, how quickly it dries, and that you can wet distress it, rather than using sandpaper, so those were the important things I wanted to get from a homemade version. The other important thing {Read More}
Book Page Wreath
We went to our sons’ basketball tournament last week and had a 5 hour drive each way and a lot of hotel time throughout the week, so I knew I needed to take along a project to work on, or I’d go stir-crazy. I couldn’t tote along my Silhouette or wood boards, so I looked around for something that would be easily portable, and decided a book page project made the most sense, so I decided to make a book {Read More}
Antique Graphics Wednesday – Early 1900’s Cleaning Products Advertisements
It’s spring cleaning time! As much as I’d love being able to finally throw open the doors and windows and let some fresh air in, and I love a clean house… I know exactly how this gal feels. (click on images to enlarge) I find not just sweeping to be drudgery, but all housework in general. I’d much rather be tinkering in my workshop than doing housework. No offense to Bissell, but no piece of equipment will make that drudgery {Read More}
