Antique Graphics Wednesday – Early 1900’s Livery Advertisement

This advertisement for the Metropolitan Livery, which provided carriage rides for funerals, weddings and party came from an early 1900 hymnal.  I rarely see advertisements in hymnals, so this was unique to me.  Here’s just the carriage image. I’d love to enjoy a drive to a party in one of these! Blessings, Angie

Colonial Pharmacy Sign

I’m sure you’ve figured it out by now, that I’m a little ga-ga over antique advertisements and signs. I really love taking an image from the past, and putting it onto something that can be used in today’s home.  When possible, I love using the exact image, as I did in this sign, rather than just using a font to copy the wording. I used this antique pharmacy label that I shared with you for Antique Graphics Wednesday HERE, to {Read More}

Antique Graphics Wednesday – 1920’s Bird Book Plates

To celebrate the first day of spring, today I’m sharing some beautiful book plate images of birds from a 1920’s book called, “Birds of the British Isles”. Enjoy!! (Click on Images to View Original Size) These would make beautiful framed prints.  I used one on a mixed media project – layered over a painted canvas, with some sheet music, and a dictionary definition. Antique Alphabet School Book Page Sign

I warned you a few days ago that I’m a slow learner, and all the troubles I had with my bakery sign didn’t teach me my lesson not to choose elaborate fonts to cut out on vinyl with my Silhouette machine.  I truly expected this project to be a failure and probably be a total waste of time, but I felt compelled to try it anyway. Here’s why.  I bought an adorable 1895 school primer.  It is filled with some {Read More}

Sonday – Just As I Am – Antique Hymn Page Printable

Aren’t you glad that Jesus takes us “as I am”, and doesn’t expect us to have our act all together.  He knows every single thing about us – every good and bad thing we’ve ever done, and loves us despite it all.  Only God can love like that.  The wonderful thing is, God doesn’t want us to stay in the same mess he found us in.  He wants us to change and become more like him. Though conviction rarely feels {Read More}

Farmhouse Dairy Sign, a Mini Version and Some Silhouette Tips

I enjoyed creating the Milk & Cream Co. sign so much, I thought I’d create another dairy sign.   I decided to look for another design to put on it. I searched the internet for inspiration and came across this antique business card.  I love the various font styles on it. {source} Once again, I removed the background and removed some of the wording, to come up with this image. This design proved to be very tricky for the Silhouette {Read More}

Antique Graphics Wednesday – 2 Cattle Images

I wish I could remember where I got this image, but I scanned it, labeled it as the year 1871, then forgot to share it with you. Anyway, I’m rather partial to old cow images, and think they make great art for transferring to fabric, for the kitchen or to put on pillows.   I’ve removed the background, so you can layer this image over other images. I have a somewhat funny story about longhorn cattle with you.  When we lived in New {Read More}

Antique Graphics Wednesday – Vintage Luggage Tags

I’m sick of the cold and am ready to pack my bags and head south until spring comes, but since that’s just a dream, instead I’ll share some vintage luggage tags with you today, so I can pretend I’m heading off to some warm, happy place. {CLICK ON IMAGES TO ENLARGE AND SAVE} I love the bright red logo on this Railway Express Agency tag. I removed the images from the tag on this one. This is the back side of {Read More}
